Everyone deserves to have fabulous wedding photography. Fact. After the wedding day is done, it’s the one thing that’s there for the rest of your lives, to remind you of your special day. However not everyone can afford a professional which is why I am seriously excited that Australian photographer Xanthe Roxburgh would like to offer one lucky Rock n Roll Bride reader Free Wedding Photography and a free engagement or day after shoot!
And the best bit? Even though Xanthe is based Down Under, she is willing to travel world wide to shoot the winning wedding! All we just ask is that transportation and lodging costs are covered if it’s more than 100km outside of Newcastle, Australia.
“I’m a lover of life, taker of photographs, chronicler of the world,” Xanthe says. “An inveterate people-watcher, I love catching the emotions and expressions of my subjects; everyone has a story to tell, and it’s often written on their face. My style is quirky and funky with a liberal dash of romance thrown in.”
“I am inspired daily by the beauty of the world and the people around me, and I am always honoured by the trust people show in me by inviting me into their lives to document their weddings and families.”
To enter, simply email me on kat@rocknrollbride.com, with the subject header “free wedding photography? yes please!” and, in no more than 500 words, tell us about your plans for your Rock n Roll wedding. Are you having an unusual theme? Are you on a teeny tiny budget so are DIYing the lot? Do you have some unusual plans for your ceremony? Or are you jumping ship and having an elopement, just the two of you? We’re not just after the wackiest theme or most crazy ideas, all we ask is that your wedding reflects you and your partner and that it ROCKS!
Please also include an inspiration board to share your ideas and wedding theme. For ideas on how to do this, check out the finalists of a similar contest I ran last year.
Please also include your names, wedding date (wedding must be taking place between July 2011 and July 2012) and location (venue if you have it, if not then where you are in the world) plus a recent photograph of you and your beau – all of which will be published on the blog if you are a finalist.
You have two weeks – until Sunday 20th March 2011 – to get those entries in. Then, myself and Xanthe will then pick out top 3 finalists who will all be put on the blog to face the public vote for one week. Then, whoever gets the most votes wins this amazing prize!
Great contest.
This is fabulous! Our wedding date is August 6th in Madison, WI!
So, it’s not really free since you will be required to pay to get her to you and accomodation…
Mama bones thats pretty much a standard condition for contests like this. If u booked a photographer who was from a different state/ town/ country or whatever u would pretty much always have to pay travel and accommodation
I am having two ceremonies: one private ceremony in May of 2012, and one family ceremony in August of 2012. Can I discuss the family ceremony for my contest entry, but possibly have Xanthe Roxburgh photograph my private ceremony? The private ceremony will be awesome, too, but much less detail-heavy as my family ceremony.
both ceremonies sound awesome. is there any reason why you’d rather have the prize for the private ceremony and not the family one?
id say for your entry discuss the ceremony and reception that Xanthe would actually be photographing. We look forward to reading it!
Wait… People actually fly photographers from the other side of the planet to shoot their weddings?!
Oh to have such an amount of money to spend – that you could do something like that!
I’d like to put a bit of work into this, for our lil rockabilly shindig weddin’ in New Zealand but I’d like to run the date by the photographer first, as its this NYE – 31/12/2011. I can understand that most people wanna be with family and friends for NYE – could you find out if this is a possibility or not? I”d be most grateful Kat. Choice! Cheers.
Actually, having the family ceremony photographed by Xanthe Roxburgh would be ideal. However, because it is scheduled for August 2012, the date is *just* outside of the window of the contest rules.
We do want a professional photographer for both ceremonies (we have not narrowed down our options yet–we have yet to look at pricing), so this is still an amazing opportunity! Also, our private wedding will be incredibly low-key. I’m very interested in the art that is photography, and want for the artist to have as stress-free and exploratory session as he or she desires.
Jezzebelle this should be fine. send that entry in anyway!
aww such a shame cynthia! id suggest contacting Xanthe anyway and telling her youve seen the contest but your date is just outside the allowed date. she wouldnt be able to do it for free but she might be able to give you a nice rock n roll bride rate? no harm in asking?!
Jezzebelle! Absolutely you should enter! I got married in NZ myself, 7 years and 2 weeks ago, in Christchurch :-(. New Years’ Eve is fine for me so you should definitely enter the comp!
Cynthia, feel free to email me directly if you want to discuss options… info at xantheroxburgh.com.au. Any contest entry should go through KAt but I’m happy for people to email me questions just CC Kat on the email if it’s competition related!
Some awesome entries so far, it’s going to be hard to decide on the finalists!
Love that first, free spirited photo.
How frustrating! OH is from Gosford near Newcastle but we’re getting married in London next January
You can still enter MzMoore if you can cover her travel and accommodation?
Yeah I have to say I would totally love to shoot in London!
Just in the nick of time! Or knick of time!? To ‘k’ or not to ‘k’! Fingers, and toes, are crossed!
