Everyone could wear what made them feel comfortable and the whole thing would be over in time for dinner.

Clare and Jon first met when Clare worked at his parents’ chip shop as a teenager. They fell in love quickly and spent several years together before life pulled them in different directions. Jon's culture required him to have arranged marriage with someone with the same beliefs. "We ended up drifting apart", Clare told us. "He moved away and I had no idea where he was. But after 20 years we found each other again, got back together and Jon decided he had to follow his heart. Getting married was a dream come true and very emotional. Jade and Simon’s took over Cultplex in Manchester for their wedding ceremony, turning the stage in front of the big screen into their altar. As the bride is polyamorous, this wasn't about tradition or legality - in fact the ceremony was not actually legally binding - all they cared about was creating something that felt collaborative and real. The bride's other partners were also involved in the day, acting as their officiant and doing readings. With a budget of just £3,000, they pulled off a wedding that was totally DIY.

The colour palette from Victoria and Melvin's wedding was lifted straight from a vintage Valentine’s card: bold reds, sugary pinks, hearts and kitsch. They filled the space with trinkets, tchotchkes and sentimental touches that echoed their own décor style. “The overall look really reminded us of our very eclectic and colourful home,” they said. “It was a comforting environment to be in that screamed us!”
