Victoria and Jonathon chose the Emerald Theatre in Mount Clemens, Michigan, for a their moody yet elegant, ’til death’ inspired wedding. The venue really helped set the tone, with guitars lining the walls, a giant stage and coloured lighting throughout. They used black everywhere from her dress to linens, chairs and flowers.

“I think what really made our wedding stand out as alternative and/or different, was the theme itself”, Victoria told us. “When you think of ‘til death’, most people would think skeletons or macabre, but our wedding was just elegant and moody. Everything was black and the venue was a theatre where there is always a fun event or concert going on. As soon as we walked in, we got the rock ‘n’ roll vibe.”

They were married on the main stage and they used piano versions of Metallica, Lana Del Rey, and Gigi Perez throughout. The couple exited to Mötley Crüe’s Kickstart My Heart took over the room. “The music was blaring in celebration!” she said. “It was my favourite part of the day.”

Looking back, there is no regret attached to the decisions they made, even thought everything cost more than they expected! “Whew… I did not realise how expensive STAMPS are?!” she laughed. “It’s all the small things that you don’t think of that really gets you at the end. We probably shouldn’t have spent as much as we did, but in the grand scheme of things, it was worth every single penny to have such amazing memories to look back on.”

Their advice they offer future couples? Make all the decisions together. “Do what makes you BOTH happy,” Victoria concluded. “And don’t listen to everyone else’s opinions because no one matters on that day besides the both of you.”
