A Hauntingly Beautiful Corpse Bride Editorial

Nothing says Halloween wedding more than the Corpse Bride and this shoot may be one of the best homages we’ve ever seen. In fact we loved it so much, we made it the cover shoot for our November/December print issue which dropped yesterday! It blends slight Victorian-inspired details with modern drapery and design elements, bringing together a touch of the past and present for a hauntingly beautiful, editorial goth vibe.

“I actually dreamed this shoot up with Rock n Roll Bride in mind so I’m so happy you love it!” Lauren New told us. “I wanted to create a fresh, modern take on Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride as a way to push my creativity and celebrate one of my favourite times of year. I thought it would be so fun to merge current wedding trends with a movie so many of us know and love.”

The shoot featured a gown by Midwest Gowns, styled to bring Burton’s gothic fantasy into a space that still feels relevant for today’s couples. The vision was never about replicating costumes. Lauren explained that when she was sketching ideas, she struggled to find inspiration that wasn’t theatrical or literal. That challenge became the catalyst. “That’s when I knew I was onto something special. You know you’ve got a good idea when nothing out there truly captures the vibe you’re envisioning”, she said.

It’s that sense of originality that makes this shoot resonate so strongly with us at Rock n Roll Bride. It doesn’t fall into the trap of caricature. Instead, it opens a door to couples who want to lean into darker moods without compromising on elegance.

But balance was key. While many Halloween shoots end up leaning hard into novelty, this one aimed for something else entirely. “I think this shoot walks the line between spooky and sophisticated,” Lauren continued. “I wanted to create something that felt elevated and editorial. This editorial shows couples that their wedding can be dark, moody, and bold while still feeling luxurious and thoughtfully designed.” The result is proof that you can experiment, play with references, and still create something striking and refined.”
