Kitsch Pink 80s Wedding on the Bride’s Birthday

To Have Her

Alyssa and Keshaun met at a house party six years ago, during a psychedelic trip. He had control of the playlist and they bonded over their mutual love of Hiatus Kaiyote.

When it came to their wedding, Alyssa called the theme “80s 80s 80s!! And pink!” She lives for Memphis design, the music, the fashion. Their house already looks like a neon time capsule, so the wedding was simply an extension of that. “Keshaun loves me, so he’s on board with whatever makes me happy,” she laughed.

The couple married on Alyssa’s birthday at Sure Thing Chapel in Vegas. Hellvis officiated so there was no religious rituals and no pre-prepared vows. “We basically swore on the ‘unholy’ bible to spend the rest of our lives together having fun and committing sins, which definitely made my Christian mother’s eye twitch!” Alyssa said. “We also chose not to write vows because I hate PDA. The only reason we’re seen kissing is because our photographer told us to!”

The guest list was short, and attendees were all asked to dress in pink or red. The bride and groom’s outfits were bold and totally them. Keshaun wore grillz and a pink velvet tux he scored for $70 on Amazon. Alyssa found her vintage gown by chance. “My best friend randomly pointed out a vintage bridal store while we were driving, and I immediately knew my dress was the one as soon as I saw it.” The gown cost $350 with another $180 in alterations, making it one of the biggest wins of the day.

After the ceremony, they had for Filipino food at their villa with rounds of shots and a tres leches cake. Later, they dragged everyone to an IT-themed escape room. “10/10 evening” Alyssa said.

Minimal planning meant no stress, which is exactly what they wanted. “You can literally do whatever you want”, the bride concluded. “As cliché as it sounds, life is truly so short. We die at the end of this, so do whatever makes you happy, especially for your wedding.”
