If you’re going to throw a wedding, you might as well make it a party. Dayton and Brad did just that, turning their celebration into an unapologetically fun, disco-fueled blowout at The Line Hotel in Washington, DC. The vibe bold, a bit dark, and designed to feel like the best night out, complete with moody bold florals, iridescent accents, and bespoke details like custom cocktails and glow-adorned skeletons.

The theme – “Til Death Do Us Disco” – came together naturally, inspired by their shared love of music, Halloween, and the kind of nights where you end up dancing until your feet ache. This wasn’t a traditional affair. Instead of printed schedules and formal invitations, they built a digital wedding hub to keep things eco-friendly and, let’s be honest, a bit more on brand for a couple whose dance floors are usually lit by lasers, not chandeliers.

The ceremony itself took place on the hotel’s rooftop at sunset, with one of their best friends – a former roommate from their lockdown days – serving as the officiant. Dayton walked down the aisle to the acoustic version of Your Bones by Chelsea Cutler. They exchanged personal vows they hadn’t shared in advance, making the moment feel fresh and surprising for both. Adding to the magic, the hotel had accidentally hung a disco ball for another event a day early, casting swirls of light as they said their vows. For a couple who had themed their wedding around disco, it felt like the universe was in on the plan.

Once the formalities were out of the way, it was all about the party. Guests in funky formalwear, drank custom cocktails and enjoyed the rave make-up station. A poppable balloon escort display added a bit of playful chaos, while an interactive band kept the energy high, making it clear that this wasn’t the kind of wedding where anyone sat quietly at a table.

Reflecting on the day, Dayton and Brad have a few words of advice for couples planning non-traditional weddings, “We had one goal”, Dayton said, “make this night a massive party with all of our favourite people. Pulling it off at long last with everyone showing up dressed in funky formal attire and dancing the night away was amazing!”

“Choose the three things you care about the most and focus your energy there,” she continued. “If something doesn’t fit your vision, leave it out. People remember the feeling of a wedding more than the details.”
“Lastly, choose vendors who match your values or vibe because they are going to surround you for the entire big day. Their vibes should propel you through the day and into the night! Just have fun, you are the guest of honour so bask in the love!!”
