The inspiration for Nick and Laura’s summer wedding came from their love of the outdoors. “We wanted to have a relaxed, informal day”, Laura said. “I couldn’t really pick out one theme, it was a mish-mash of everything we love.”

The ceremony was held at The Underwood Centre at Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol. “Our ceremony location was a beautiful little open sided barn in the middle of a beautiful big cemetery. To be honest it was all over in a blur, thankfully we have so many beautiful photos to remind us of what happened!”

Laura wore a stunning customised blush dress from House of Mooshki and her bridesmaids wore the same colour! “I’ve not seen any other wedding where the bride and bridesmaids wear the same colour”, she said. “It was something I was a little worried about because I wasn’t sure if it would work but I don’t think it could have looked lovelier. They looked like my little mini me’s on the day! Their dresses came from Little Mistress.”

The reception was held at Yatton Rugby Club. “We made the bunting, table runners, and decorated glass jars. We did a ‘bake off’ too, asking guests to bring a cake or pudding for the dessert. We were so impressed with the amount of effort people made, they were gorgeous looking and very yummy. We served pie and mash with cauliflower cheese and peas for the meal instead of a buffet or proper sit down meal. We envisioned a cosy family dinner where you pass around the plates of food to each other and serve yourself at the table.”

“My advice to other couples would be to take your time and think about what you both really enjoy and work from there”, she concluded. “It really worked for us and made sure both Nick and I were involved and represented at our wedding. If you have the time or are so inclined, do DIY projects with your family and friends too, it is a great way to bring everyone together and makes you so proud on the day when you see everyone’s hard work.”

  1. A beautifully planned wedding. Everyone looks relaxed and looking like they’re enjoying themselves, which is key to the day!

I like the idea of breaking traditions, so having all the brides in white, why not! Be different. Different is always better.

    Congratulations! 🙂
