Heaven in a Bath Tub: WIN a Year’s Worth of Blissful Bathing with The Bathory!

Full disclaimer: I am writing this article in a towel. I just had the most amazing bath of my life, and I didn’t want to ruin that post-soak-glow by stopping to get dressed before telling you all about it!

I am a big fan of a bath. I really started having them because the shower in our house is completely rubbish, but now I really look forward to my daily splash. Working from home, it’s way too easy to go for days without properly getting clean (gross but true). In fact I usually start working in the morning without so much as brushing my teeth (again, gross but true) so come around 3 or 4pm I am in desperate need of cleansing!

It took me approximately 2.5 seconds to place an order with The Bathory when I discovered them online. Why? Because you get to create your very own customised bath soak! That is the kind of thing I love

The idea is simple, yet completely genius. First you select what kind of bath you’d like from one of three bases – bask, soothe or detox. Then you add your own blend of up to three essential oils. You can choose them so they evoke a certain feeling (relaxed, revived, happy, sexy, confident, focused, inspired) or just go wild and pick your favourites. The scents aren’t too overpowering on their own either so there’s no need to worry about choosing a weird combination and it not working.

I chose the detox base which is made from pure Espom salts and Rhassoul clay and is designed to draw out toxins. I decided I wanted something reviving for my mid-afternoon pick me up so I selected eucalyptus, grapefruit and rosemary as my oils.

And ooh la la, it was glorious. So glorious in fact that as soon as I’m finished writing this I’m off to order another. I think I might go for the way to delicious sounding soothe (with hydrating oatmeal, honey and buttermilk!) base next.

The Bathory claim to deliver the best bath of your life, and you know what, I actually think they just might.

Getting into clean pj’s then into new bed sheets with a good book/couple of magazines after having a long hot bath! My idea of heaven…..but as I too am a new mum this doesn’t happen very often so a snuggle on the the sofa with my lil’ man is also pretty great! Xx

  2. Alisa

a pint of beer, chatting to my boyfriend after the whole day at work, and some punk music in the background! \m/

  3. Hayley

For some unknown reason I thought a PhD was a good idea……in order to combat the stress I have what can be called a two phase or tag team plan!!
Phase one: running!! Once I got past the ‘oh lord this is torture! When will it end? I have to run for HOW LONG?? Ten minutes without stopping? Why?’ Phase it is now a serious stress buster (and I can go for an hour without keeling over!)
Phase two: BATHTIME!!!! I seriously love my bath. The components include water hot enough to make me pink like a crab, a lot of bubbles, maybe a candle, currently a Game of Thrones book and a glass of wine if my fiancée can tear himself away from the Xbox!
I am concerned that my relaxing pastime is becoming a bit obsessive. I now fill the bath so full that I have to edge in ever so slowly so as not to overflow and cause a puddle in the kitchen when the water goes through the floor (happened at least once last week). I have also started taking two types of reading material and my mum knows to expect a catch up call at 8pm dead on as I start it running!!!!!
    Man do I love bathing.

  4. I love to go for a walk & if there happens to be a country pub enroute then Id have to stop for a lovely relaxing lunch before heading home for a nice soak in the bath

  5. Having a bath whilst watching something crappy on 4od, then getting into fresh pjs and a onesie, putting my hair in a bun and snuggling on the sofa with my fiancé brew in one hand biscuits in the other! xox lovely!

  6. I have recently discovered my perfect relax is to spend time with my best friends. We get takeaway food, funny internet videos and there is always some form of cake involved.

For some reason after a weekend of doing this I feel better than when I do anything else. 🙂

  7. I have 2 kids under 5 so relaxing is not something I get to do very much, but when I do it is usually by cuddling up on the couch with my husband watching a favorite TV show or reading up on my fav blogs.

  8. Curling up with a yummy glass of wine and a good book or tv show with my husband once the baby goes down for the night.

  9. Charlene

At the moment, my favourite way to relax is to settle down at my sewing machine and whip up a new dress or top. Sewing may not sound relaxing to everyone, but I find that it really helps me to unwind.

  10. A nice cup of Sleepy Time tea plus a good book and a long soak in the tub is the absolute perfect way to relax for me.

  11. Ronnie

This may be corny or downright heart wrenching. At the height of my weight I was 385 lbs. and was never able to relax in a tub much less menuever myself into one. So uncomfortable. Now 187 lbs. healthier I am able to indulge in a simple but soothing bath with candles and the sweet guitar of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.

  12. Seated or lying down reading magazines. Hands down my fav. Bathtub, beach, hotel, bed, dining room – on my lunch break – it doesn’t matter as long as I have a visually stimulating magazine – Im in heaven! :D…. Thanks for this awesome Giveaway!

  13. This is an awesome giveaway!

I love to curl up with a good book (fantasy, thriller or memoir) + glass of chilled chardonnay + on my beige suede couch! Maybe a chenille throw to get extra cozy!

I AM a Taurus after all!!

  14. Jill

I LOVE LOVE LOVE taking baths! That is my Sunday night ritual- I call it my Sunday Spa Day :-)I make my own concoction. Bath and Body Works lavendar bubble bath, some epsom salt, argan oil, coconut oil, rosehip oil, honey… I just throw it all in! I would love to try Bathory!

  15. Heather

My fave way to relax is to light all the candles in my room(which is about 20) and just lay there looking at the flames and meditating. When I do this, I wish I was back home on the beach listening to the waves roll in and picturing myself walking on my fave beach!

  16. My favorite way to relax is to snuggle up with my boyfriend and puppy and a tasty cocktail within arms reach.

  17. Francesca

My favourite way to relax is chilling with some insanely loud music, some friends and a tub of icecream, then vegging out à la Pretty Woman infront of and old movie (or Pretty Woman, actually!)

  18. My favourite way to relax is to pack a shoulder bag with books, a camera, and my journal and go for a leisurely walk to the pond by my house. I visit the wildlife there and take in every bit of nature, before finding a spot to sit and reading to my heart’s content. The nourishment and sense of freedom I get from leaving behind the TV and my blog at home is addictive – I need to get out there to rejuvenate every once in a while. Thanks Kat!

  19. Sarah B

my favourite way to chill and relax is to hop in the car drive to southsea (about 40minutes away) listening to my favourite tunes then spend a stupid amount of money on the grabby machines, have chips by the sea and gossip with my husband

  20. My favorite way to relax is a long soak in a hot bath with all of my candles lit in the bathroom. I have a little square of black chocolate and a sneaky glass of red wine in the bath with me. I put my headphones on at float away with my chill out playlist on. Bliss!

  21. clare

my favourite way to relax is reading a good book in the bath, then getting into clean PJs and a bed with fresh sheets! nothing beats it after a long day running around after kids! xx

  22. I have always loved a bath as well. I grew up with 7 siblings, and let me tell you; the only way to get some quiet was to be in the bathroom – and you could take a bath for up to an hour before someone else kicked you out!! Once I moved out for college my love of baths didn’t change: I actually chose an apartment based on the fact that it had a bath. I like to do about half an hour of yoga before getting into the bath for a double dose of relaxation.

  23. Shauna

Snuggling on the couch with hubby and my puppy (two adults plus a 80lb rottweiler on a couch…how can that NOT be relaxing? hahaha) watching movies together! This would be great to win as we just put in a giant claw foot bathtub!

  24. Samantha

Although it hasn’t happened so much since becoming a mummy, my fav way to relax is in a roasty toasty bubble bath with either a book or a graphic novel and a mug of hot chocolate! ^^ x

  25. I don’t get to relax very often, so when I do it’s (at least) an hour long bubble bath, with candles and a book (very cliché!) & it’s lovely if I can follow that with a big mug of hot chocolate, curled up on the sofa =) x

  26. Curled up on the sofa, cup of tea in hand, fluffy slippers on and catching up on my favourite blogs and YouTubers – which is exactly what I’m doing at the moment. Annnd relax.

  27. kerry

My prefect way to relax is a lovely long lazy morning watching cheesy 80’s films about friendship and innocence with the curtains closed and the cats for company!
Followed closely by a week of not worrying about work and indulging in family and friends time.
    Bloody bliss

  28. My favourite way to relax is a slow walk through a sun-dappled woodland followed by a glass of chilled white wine in a deckchair, a hot soak, PJs and a trashy film. What can I say, I like whole days of relaxation!

  29. Rebecca Hall

A glass of chilled wine and strawberries on a warm summers evening in the garden with the scent of roses and jasmine in the air. Mmmmmm

  30. Bethany

A long hot bath, clean pyjamas and then snuggling up with my boyfriend to watch an anime film. Chocolate, candles and tea a must 🙂

  31. My ideal way to relax is a nice hot bath or shower, getting into clean warm PJs afterward and curling up in front of the fireplace with a big cup of tea and a good book! ♥ xx

  32. Lauren

I absolutely love taking a nice relaxing bath with some sort of bath product. I like bubbles, salts, oils, and aromatherapy! I might go take one now, in fact!

  33. My favorite way to relax is putting on my PJs and cuddling up on the couch with my dog. We watch crap TV and my stress just melts away!

  34. Jackie

Languishing in my boudoir listening to the radio and partaking of a bit of ipadding 🙂

  35. I’m a little weird…. My relaxing comes when I sit in front of the telly! I think it stems from sitting with my mom watching telly and both of us falling asleep! Ha! In fact…. I’m in bed now, with the telly on…. Ready to fall a kip! I’ll REALLY appreciate the soaks though too… I’ll take the telly in the bathroom! 🙂 great comp Kat! Xxx night night everyone!

  36. Stevie

I like to crank up my radio until I can’t hear myself and sing my heart out. It’s incredibly stress relieving, and totally worth the damage to my ears.

  37. Kristy E

Fave way to relax is with a good book in the bath, surrounded by candles and with a glass of wine handy. Then, curling up on the couch with a comfy blanket and binging on random TV shows (right now it’s Orphan Black) 🙂 Sigh. Can I be there now?

  38. Jennifer H.

I love to relax in a hot bath with bath salts, a nice glass of wine, and a good book.

  39. Margaret

Yoga is definitely my favorite way to relax (other than a bath of course!). Having a new baby can be stressful and tiring. Yoga gives me some much needed time to get my self centered and take a few cleansing breaths before doing it all again 😉

  40. Mary Patton

I’m finishing my first year of my MFA, at a later age of 28. I rarely have time to unplug and wind down, but when I do it’s always with a bath. Until this year that is. I live in a house where I share space with 14 people and the tub is never clean area. I’m moving into my first ever solo apartment soon and taking a bath is going to be a ceremony! Usually I liked to throw in some essential oils and epsom salt, throw a little Harry Connick Jr. on, and close my eyes. After that I like to lounge around in my fuzzy robe and go to bed EARLY. If none of these options are available I stand in the sun with no shoes on and laugh my head off.

  41. Kristen

Oh my goodness; relaxation is so hard to come by! I currently manage three veterinary practices that are open 7 days a week. That means I am pretty much on call 24/7. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job but it can do a number on my mind and body. Also being a Lupus patient (a debilitating auto immune disease) keeping stress down is an important way to help prevent flares. During the day i try to take my Labrador for a walk to get a break from the office if the weather permits. Otherwise I try to stretch and do yoga (it also depends on how my body is feeling) when I get home. Almost nightly I take a nice hot bath to relieve some of the pain lupus causes and get lost into a book. I don’t have a jetted tub but my husband was so nice to get me a tub pillow, a book rack, and a portable jet. With water full of baking soda and epsom salt I try to find my own little relaxing space.

  42. The ultimate relaxation for me is to run a scalding hot bath, light some candles, pop some music on and read until the water starts to cool. Then hop into a freshly made bed and have a nanna nap. There is very little that a bath, a nap (and some chocolate!) can’t fix.

In terms of a positive, uplifting way to relax- it’s either sewing/knitting, which require just enough of my attention to calm my busy brain, or a hot bath with a face mask to make me actually stop, stay in the bath, and relax (otherwise I end up rushing through it!)before fresh pyjamas and a freshly made bed.
