Susan and Scheffer Ely’s Camp-Out Rock Star Fest!

June 11, 2009

I have been waiting for what seems like forever to share these with you and I am so over-the-top excited that I now get to. This may actually be one of my new favourite weddings!

Susan and Scheffer Ely (they already sound like rock stars!) got married at a property outside of the town of Mariposa (which is on the way to Yosemite).  The couple did tons of work on the property and totally DIY’ed the lot.  They did all of the adorable flowers in the trees, made the chandeliers over the dining area out of Manzanita branches and they even constructed a flame burning giant flower sculptures that decorated the pool area! They also had a self-portrait photo area where guests could dress up in costumes and take their photo.

Most of the guests camped out on the property for the weekend, and the little tent in the pictures is the “honeymoon tent” that the couple stayed in the night of the wedding (aww!)

The large Moroccan wedding tent was a friends and the smaller one we bought directly from India and shipped over.  Susan has kindly said that anyone in Northern CA can contact her to rent it! (if you’re interested drop me an email and I will pass on her details to you)

Susan’s dress was from Jeremy’s in SF – a store that sells high end samples.  She didn’t want a traditional dress so she shopped in stores that had more cocktail dresses, dresses for formal events kind of a thing (Susan will be getting back to me with the make of the dress soon but I just had to get these up right now!) She also made her beautiful hairpiece herself from a gorgeous piece of lace put together with some “feathery poofs from a silly accessories store
Susan’s make up was done by Tracy Murphy.  Susan says
I think my exact words might have been make me look “rock and roll”!!

Mission accomplished don’t we think?! I hope you guys love these as much as I do!

A Huge thank you to Susan for sending me all this info and to photographers Judy & Heidi of  Gertrude & Mabel Photography for sending me the images.
