Anyone that knows me at all will be well aware than I have a bit of an obsession with these Vivienne Westwood/Melissa shoes. So, when photographer Kellie send me Carol’s bridals which had her wearing the very shoes I am totally smitten with (and own – I have the yellow and black ones too) well I couldn’t wait to feature! I am also crazy in love with her cute short birdcage veil and her Modern Trousseau gown.

It’s Our Wedding, Let’s P.A.R.T.Y Hard!

Wow wow wow. Kelly & Sean sure knew how to rock a wedding! From an emotional ceremony, to a family-orientated reception to a crazy-fun party, the whole day looks like an utter blast! “The one thing that we dislike about weddings is how they are all alike” they told me. “We understand its tradition and that’s how its supposed to be done, but why? why is there a set pattern?  We wanted our wedding to be personal to us. We wanted to start our own traditions and do things unique to our style. The theme of our wedding was basically “Things We Love” and  it ended up being the perfect reflection of us. We did whatever we wanted and nixed things we disliked. we strived to make it intimate and personal. Our wedding was hands down the best day of our lives, we had everything we loved, surrounded by everyone we love and made sure to marry the heck outta the one we loved!”

The wedding too place at The Allan House. They had a short and sweet ceremony outside which was full of touching moments. The groom’s grandfather was a groomsman! He really relieved the tension during the ceremony when he whistled at the bride as she walked down the aisle…what a lovely idea to involve such a special member of the family in the wedding in this way.

The Vintage Brooch Bouquet

Roni & Dave are currently on their honeymoon but I had to give them a quick appearance on Rock n Roll Bride – check out her awesome vintage brooch bouquet! I’ve been noticing a lot of brides have been forgoing real blooms of late, in favour of some more original, kooky ideas (think candy, feather, cotton, dried flowers, vintage jewellery and everything in between) Aren’t these gorgeous?

Roni scoured antique stores in the run up to their wedding and payed anywhere from $3 – $12 for each brooch and constructed the bouquet themselves. I understand their wedding and reception was a bit of a diy fest. too so I’m hoping to share it with you when they couple return.

1950s Housewife Engagement – Tea, Cakes & Scrabble!

Alex & Claire’s retro, 50’s housewife engagement is aces! Not only because it was shot by one of my bestest wedding buddies, Emma Case but because it has tea, cakes and scrabble!

“Alex and Claire are getting married in August and Alex is my best friend’s boyfriend’s brother so I know them both pretty well and am ridiculously excited about their wedding as I know what our nights out are like when we all go out together!” Emma began to yell me excitedly. “A special treat is Claire’s wonderful rendition of “Oh, wouldn’t it be lovely” in a cockney accent…she’s actually very Northern (that’s usually nearer the end of the night).”
“Alex called me about a month back asking if we could do some pictures for their invites and that they had a few ideas (brilliant)…. I arrived at their house and they were both dressed in full 1950’s get up and had the table set ready for their photo shoot!  Love it!  They wanted to try and do the ‘1950’s how to be a good housewife’ thing and they really got in to it… I LOVE couples like that… no I really mean it… L..O..V..E!”
