This grocery shopping engagement shoot made me giggle. It’s not often I see a supermarket looking so chic and cool. In fact I love it so much that I’m even considering not doing my usual ‘let’s put off the food shopping until all we have left in our cupboards is mayonnaise and gin…’ dance and popping down to my local store right now to see what inspiration is lurking among the tins of beans and frozen peas…
“We didn’t want your typical ‘day in the park/vintage picnic’ engagement session, so we picked our favorite corner grocery store that has a bit of an offbeat feel to it,” Colleen told me. “The sandwiches at their deli counter are killer and while you wait for them to prepare your food you can sit in their lounge area and catch up on some reading, play retro Atari or peruse the aisles for random groceries and delicious libations. The store has a retro feel to it, so we chose our wardrobe to reflect that 50s grocer feel. We both live in the area and have loved their sandwiches for years. Mike’s favorite sandy is the Baron Rodgers and mine is the Frukwine- yum!”
I love fashion blogs, and my newest discovery obsession is Fancy Treehouse, ran by the beautiful Coury Combs. What I love most about her blog is her online vintage store. You could get lost for hours in there. This morning she put up her latest selection of dresses, tops & bottoms and my heart skipped a beat when I saw this little beauty….
We all know that DIY and crafty weddings are BIG right now, so for this week’s ‘The List’ guest post I asked blogger and wedding stylist London Bride to come up with some of her favourite ideas to make your wedding crafting just that little bit more Rock n Roll. You will love!
The DIY/Crafty List
Getting crafty can be fun, but a girl needs the right tools, right? Some staples that I think every diy bride might find more handy than her handiwork itself.
Bring back the excitement of receiving letters in snail mail format and send your save the dates out in traditional airmail envelopes or use them as place names with some pretty calligraphy and a little letter inside to each of your friends and family with a sweet story or memory.
Woohoo new feature y’all! ‘The List’ is the opportunity for guest blogger Charley Beard of UK wedding and style blog, London Bride to go shopping in the name of research! I’ve asked this lovely blogger and wedding stylist to put together a collection of goodies different wedding genres. Each installment of ‘The List’ will be full to bursting of wedding loveliness in different wedding styles (rockabilly, punk, budget, diy etc) so I hope over the coming weeks you’ll be able to find some really cool and unique wedding ‘bits’ that you can use in your own weddings (or you can just buy because you love them hehe!)
Charley is one of the best people I know for finding awesome and gorgeous things all over the internet (bad for my bank balance!) so I know over the coming weeks she is going to come up with some little beauties. Get those credit cards at the ready girls!
We thought we’d start with one of the most popular – vintage. Let us know what you think in your comments!
Why hello December, you snuck up on us real fast didn’t you?! I’m not quite ready to get proper festive just yet, but here’s my usual conglomerate of candy sweetness to keep you going until I am.
♥ Shhh! An incognito New York Photographer is running a photo shoot contest. Incognito because they are keeping their identity a secret so not so influence the entries they receive. They say, In an effort to only attract the most creative, I have decided to remain anonymous. I do not want contestants going to my website for inspiration on what they think I may be looking for. I want them to be creative and original. I realize that this is unorthodox, but I truly believe this will enable me to find the type of contestants I seek.
I would love it if a Rock n Roll couple won this. Come on you can do it!
♥ Living TV are still on the look out for a Rock n Roll couple to take part in the next series of Four Weddings. If you’re in the UK and getting hitched between now and March then get in touch! For anyone who hasn’t seen the show before, here’s the info from the production team:
We are casting for the second series of “Four weddings” which see’s 4 brides attending each others’ weddings as guests and they will judge & score the day as a whole based on four categories, The Dress, The Food, The Venue and The Overall Experience. The scores are not disclosed amongst the other brides until after all the weddings when it will be revealed whose wedding has been judged the best! The bride with the highest score at the end of the show will win a Luxury dream honeymoon. We would really love a real variety of weddings celebrating different cultures and personal interests. We would love to include a gothic wedding or burlesque wedding, however we’re open to all sorts of weddings. This wedding would need to be taking place in December, January or February.
