The Wedding Of The Year

I am not the most patient of people and when photographer David McNeil told me about Caroline & Callum's upcoming wedding at the beginning of this year I was already dying to see the results. The couple not only found David through Rock n Roll Bride but Caroline proceeded to tease me with regular email updates on their wedding planning gorgeousness - from her amazing David Fielden dress to her perfect Vivienne Westwood shoes (I loved them so much I even attempted to make my own Rock n Roll Bride version!)

Quirky, Colourful, Kitsch

I am crazy in love with Tanya & Mark's amazingly colourful DIY wedding! The event took place in Tanya's parent's backyard in Northampton, PA and totally reflected the couple's quirky, colourful, kitschy nature. They really put 100% of themselves into the day. Tanya made the invitations, the felt flowers, the centrepieces and most of the decorations herself and all of the tables were covered with unique vintage fabric sourced from various places throughout the wedding planning. One of my favourite details had got to be the pink flamingos everywhere though! Tanya says she has a slight obsession with John Waters so this detail was a must! Tanya found her and her Bridesmaid's dress from Ebay and her amazing red birdcage veil from Events and Occasions. Her shoes were from Modcloth and her red petticoat was found at Unique Vintage. Thanks to Tanya and Mark for sharing their day and all the gorgeous details with us! Credit: Matt Stanley

Sunset Love Story

I really need to be lying down with some honey and lemon and watching trash on tv as I'm sick...grr I don't do well when I get ill - boredom is not my Forté. I just had to drop by and share a few little images from this Russian engagement session entitled 'Sunset Love Story.' Totally beautiful huh? It's hard to choose, but I think the 'red heart lollypop' one has got to be my favourite. Too gorgeous! The photographer, Mukhina Ekaterina, will actually be touring the states in October/November of this year and would love to meet and photograph some rock n roll couples. Drop her an email if you're game! Until tomorrow, when I hope to be feeling less vile and able to share all the amazing weddings I've been sent over the weekend (I swear...they are all amazing!) Happy snoozy Sunday to you all! I have a distinct lack of a day filled with snooze myself as I plan to share some gorgeous and rockin' trash the dress sessions with you (and knowing me probably more!) I'm going to start with the hot shoot sent in by the very lovely Jeffery Chan of I Cherish You, a photographer from Toronto. The location of the shoot is pretty awesome huh? The shoot took place in the abandoned Kodak building which is now apparantly a very popular shoot zone for local photographers. Thanks to Jeffery for sharing these with me! Credit: I Cherish You

A Punk Rock Fairytale

Kat

Alysson & David's wedding was a fusion of traditional, rock n roll and crazy awesome hair! They were married in a church that was a converted school by David's father who is a pastor. As photographer, Daniel Krieger said to me... The couple tore up the dance floor once some loud punk music came on the stereo.. the atmosphere of the wedding was just a chill, fun time.. people with different coloured hair and regular looking aunts all on the dance floor together. Alysson's Amsale dress was accoumpanied it with some shoes by Chinese Laundry, bought from DSW. The rock star credentials don't stop there though. Not only did The Ramones play at their reception (!) but they had a pair of guests, Tish and Snooky, that not only used to be in Blondie (ARRGH!) but are the founders of Manic Panic (kick ass hair colour dye.) I think right now I owe those two a huge thank you for creating such amazing rainbow hair dye! Thanks to Daniel for sending this rock star wedding to me! Credit: Daniel Krieger

Anything Goes

Kim & Christian's wedding certainly didn't fit any kind of traditional mould. The bride wore two stunning dresses, the red one for the ceremony and the gorgeous green 'princess dress' for the reception, where they danced and hula hooped on the beach into the wee hours of the morning. Kim's bridesmaids wore dresses that she'd made especially for them and stunning custom hairpieces from Etsy. The handmade invitations and wooden flower bouquet also really added to the uniqueness of this wedding. You're going to love these. Thank you so much to Kristen of LanierStar Photography for sending them my way! Credit: LanierStar Photography

Vibrant.

Dave & Pam sure let their imagination run wild with their gorgeous wedding at Canada's Kopje Regional Park. The Bride is particular loves bright colours and so decided to reflect that in their day by organising and designing the whole thing herself. Her dress was by Maggie Sottero and the awesome stripey cake was made by Wedding Cake Creations. For the flowers they relied on the expertise of Art Knapp Plantland & Florists, which meant they got the perfect pink, orange and red (who says they don't go together!?) flower combo to compliment the rest of the decor. I love their completely non-boring group shots too! The photographers wanted to find something different and were worried that they might not in such a small town. However when driving one day, the spotted the a mechanic's garage on the side of the highway and after asking a pretty confused owner permission to use the site they had found their perfect spot. The antiquey sofa and the fun masks add a great finish to the shots and transform them into something that is anything but dull. Thanks to photographers Emmy & Aaron for sharing this hot damn gorgeous wedding with us! Credit: E/A Photography

Fashionable

Jenny & Ian got married in San Francisco this March. Jenny has a particular interest in high fashion and editorial photography and so the couple really wanted to bring this feel into their wedding. Everything from her Ulla-Maija dress to her amazing and unique birdcage veil/hat combo from Designs By Kristen, from her short reception dress by Priscilla of Boston Platinum Collection designed by Kenneth Pool to her Yves Saint Laurent shoes - every detail rocked that fashion look. I also completely love their reception details. The had a Chinese Banquet at Tai Pan Restaurant in Palo Alto, the theme of which is reflected by details such as their stationary, the flowers and their adorable anime inspired cake topper. Thanks to Rachel for sending these in...I heart them. Credit: Studio Castillero

Pin Up Vixen

It's nice to break away from all the weddingness sometimes and just spend some time enjoying some non wedding inspiration and Taylor's senior portraits fall smack bang into this category. I'm sure it's pretty obvious why I love these - the colours, the contrast and her gorgeous retro rockabilly style - she has got that pin up thing down to a tee with her fluttering eyelashes and her matt, crimson lips. Can you believe this gal is only 18!? ps I ♥ that egg chair a little too much! Credit: Tinywater Photography

Paivi ♥ Miikka

This Finnish wedding shot by photographer extraordinaire, Marianne Taylor (I have had the pleasure of meeting and being photographed by her - oh yes I am a lucky ducky) literally hit me straight between the eyes. What I adore so much about Marianne's work is how perfectly she captures atmosphere and the ambiance of a wedding. Her reportage work is seriously second to none. Even though a Finnish wedding has slightly different traditions to that of a British or American one, there is really not much difference when it comes to all the details. I adore the Bride, Miikka's red shoes and cuuute red, heart earrings for example, and the lovely 'Pam ♥ Miikka' sign is too adorable for words.
