Cottagecore Meets Queer Joy

A few years ago, Griffin was performing at a drag show when Jay became the first person to tip them. Griffin winked at him, then a couple of years later they matched on a dating app! From then on, they were inseparable.

They were lucky enough to win a free wedding at The Vow Room in Spokane so they planned an intimate celebration that brought together cottagecore styling with astrology, queer joy and a palette of green and orange.

“The inspiration for our wedding was whimsical with greens and oranges”, Griffin told us. “We wanted to go with a cottagecore theme, filled with an ambiance of astrology, and queerness. One cool thing we did was put personalised chains on one another while doing our first look and both my mum and dad walked me down the aisle.”

The timing of the wedding was very intentional, falling on June 13th, the same day as a Spokane’s Pride parade. After saying their vows, the newlyweds headed straight out to join in the parade, celebrating alongside their local LGBTQ+ community. “Celebrating it on the day of pride provided a safe space for us”, they said.

After their parade and a meal at their venue, the couple were joined by 40 more loved ones for an after party at Griffin’s mum’s house. Friends and family gathered in the garden, where bartenders served drinks beside the pool and a slushy machine kept everyone cool. “The best thing about our wedding was sharing our love with one another, celebrating pride together and being accepted for our love. We just wish the wedding industry had more transgender representation!”

But they did want to recognise the team who helped bring everything together. “Jade at the Vow Room was an incredible planner and made the day feel so easy. They were willing to accommodate and turn the day into what we dreamed the day would be. All we had to do was show up with the registration and our rings!”
