Big Love: An Ibizan Wedding in Norfolk with a Two Month Engagement!

Jonathan and Laura met by chance. When her friends birthday party gatecrashed another group’s table at the local pub, Laura ended up sitting opposite Jonathan and it was love at first sight! She packed up her life in Ibiza to be with him and the rest, they say, is history.

They were married exactly two months to the day after they got engaged, and amazingly, DIY’d almost every aspect. Laura is a milliner and Jonathan an illustrator, so they had creativity on their side! Their reception was held at the aforementioned pub – the Rumsey Wells in Norwich – which was extremely special for the couple to be able to celebrate their wedding in the place that they met. During the speeches they were literally pointing to the very spot they met and fell in love!

Glitter, Sequins & Mermaids: Colourful Club Tropicana Wedding in Ibiza

Alright, we need to talk about one of the greatest destination weddings I’ve probably ever seen: Cara and Tod’s insanely awesome, super colourful, don’t-give-a-fuck Ibiza wedding! The groom wore a silver sequin jacket and his groomsmen were in NEON PINK SHORT SUITS. I kid you not, you will never have seen a wedding quite like this one before. Oh and there were real life mermaids at their reception – NBD.

They split the wedding over two days, meaning they could have a whole weekend of fun in the sun with all their guests. “The legal ceremony was a traditional beach ceremony followed by a meal at El Chiringuito“, Cara explained, “but the after party/ reception was anything but traditional. The dress code to our guests was ‘Glitter, sequins, tropical, festival vibes’ – you can see by the photos what a fabulous effort everyone made!”

Laid Back Bohemian Destination Wedding in Ibiza

Natalie and Edward got engaged in Ibiza so decided to also have their wedding there! Their day was held in a nature reserve and was bohemian in style and super creative. As they were having a destination wedding they decided to throw the rule book out and ignore tradition.

“We knew the venue well and wanted to keep the day as simple as possible,” began Natalie. “As it was in nature reserve there was a lot of wildlife and flowers around. The venue itself was very minimal and white so it just looked gorgeous as it was. We took pastel coloured paper streamers and tie dye balloons with us but that was it. Neither myself nor Edward wanted a traditional outfit. He wore a gold and black camouflage suit and the bottom half of my dress was rose gold sequins!”

Bohemian & Pagan Wedding in Ibiza

Bohemian Ibiza Wedding (43)

Al and Tony both love the sun, so they decided on a destination in Ibiza. “We are both sun-worshipping beach bums”, the bride said. “I grew up in Australia so the beach and the sea is in my blood, and Tony spent his younger years backpacking and chasing the summer. We go to Spain for a summer holiday every year and Ibiza is a special place for me due to it’s spiritual flavour, so it was the obvious choice for our wedding.”

The couple were legally married in Islington Town hall in London (on Al’s birthday!) a few days before the Ibiza wedding. “We both always wanted a beach ceremony and to be outdoors and close to nature, so La Escollera was the perfect location”, she said. “It had rained a lot that week, but we were totally blessed on the day as the sun came out in its full glory.”
