Tropical, Disco Ball, Colour Pop Wedding

When Julia and Jackson decided to get hitched, they just wanted a day which felt unique to them and had lots of colour. They chose Valentine, a large event space in Downtown LA as their venue. The greenhouse courtyard was the perfect setting for the ceremony and their reception was held in a connecting space which has a stunning sunset mural on the wall and unique hexagonal doorways.

Julia’s look was also anything but traditional! She wore the Orion dress by Willowby by Watters, bright blue ankle boots, a Carbickova Crowns headpiece and a tinsel jacket made by Rachel Burke. The bridesmaids were in yellow and orange to match the tropical/ sun set colour scheme.

Chicago Conservatory Elopement with a Leopard Print Dress & a Surprise Act of Kindness

They were always going to elope and luckily, even though a lockdown was imminent, Jodi and Terry were still able to go ahead with their intimate March wedding. They’d booked into have their quicky ceremony at Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago (which didn’t cost them a penny!) and a friend, who got ordained especially for the event, hosted the proceedings. They had no guests at the ceremony, which was always their plan. They really didn’t want a big wedding or any fuss. The idea was for it to just feel like a fancy day out.

“We wanted to keep things cheap and simple but finding a venue in Chicago in March isn’t easy”, Jodi explained. “The conservatory was perfect, because it’s free but also lush and beautiful year-round. My dream look would have probably been wearing a Maison Valentino haute couture gown, in the woods or on a cliff somewhere, but a 90s-meets-Old Hollywood-meets-pinup vibe combined many of my styles into one.”

“The day began with me going on my own to get my hair and makeup done, while Terry took time to get ready, pick up our flowers and have lunch. I then drove myself to the conservatory. On the way, I listened to the US president address the country, announcing a national emergency due to the pandemic. We stood in front of a little waterfall in the ‘fern room’ for the ceremony. It was very humid and my hair flattened and frizzed pretty quickly. Terry and I read the words that we wrote about one another and our officiant wrapped things up perfectly, speaking to how we’ve chosen to be with one another and go through all of life’s ups and downs with one another.”

A Midsummer Eco-Friendly Bohemian Glasshouse Wedding

Raych and Stu are both creatives, so their imagination ran away with them a little when they dreamed up their wedding day. The initial inspiration was Midsummer Night’s Dream – an ethereal, boho, garden vibe with touches of magic throughout. No matter where their dreams took them, they stuck to two non-negotiables for decision making for their big day – every element should be about them and their guests instead of following a tradition, and it had to be eco-conscious; everything would be be reused, recycled, environmentally friendly, or where things were bought, they would be from small businesses.

Their venue, The Secret Herb Garden, Edinburgh, was their biggest expense of their ÂŁ15,000 budget, but was a total steal for their theme; the abundance of flowers and greenery meant they needed very little in the way of additional decor in order to capture the mood they wanted. Stu had proposed to Raych the previous year in a field of wild heather, so it was absolutely perfect for them to get married a year to the day in a greenhouse full of wild heather, lavender, thyme and rosemary.
