Ethereal Indoor Woodland Wedding with Lashings of Gold

Carly and Tom were inspired by their love of nature and luxury for their June 2019 wedding in East Sussex, England. Armed with a budget of £12,000, they set about creating an intimate day full of glamour and opulence, with the aid of Rock n Roll Bride, of course!

“We wish we knew how much fun wedding planning would be!” said Carly. “Everyone goes on about how stressful it is but we just found planning each element so much fun. Just follow the books’ checklist and you can’t step wrong!”

Secluded Central Park Elopement

When planning their wedding day, Zach and Robyn knew that they wanted to create an experience with reflected their relationship. They actively elected conventional elements very judiciously, “We chose things not just for ceremony, or convention, but because it was what we wanted or felt reflected our relationship,” Robyn explained.

They decided to have a private ceremony in a secluded part of Central Park, New York, in the north woods. “It rained all day,” said Robyn, “and the sun came out about an hour before we were supposed to arrive. So, not only did we get to enjoy the ceremony as planned, the park was empty. The experience was really special and joyful.”

With a budget of $3,500, they knew they wanted to invest in quality photos and artful photographers in order to have a special memento of the experience. They cut costs dramatically by eschewing a traditional reception with lots of guests to entertain. Robyn made her own flower crown, bouquet and Zach’s boutonniere, and designed sleeves for her Ghost dress to make it more in-keeping with her style and something she felt comfortable in.

A Midsummer Eco-Friendly Bohemian Glasshouse Wedding

Raych and Stu are both creatives, so their imagination ran away with them a little when they dreamed up their wedding day. The initial inspiration was Midsummer Night’s Dream – an ethereal, boho, garden vibe with touches of magic throughout. No matter where their dreams took them, they stuck to two non-negotiables for decision making for their big day – every element should be about them and their guests instead of following a tradition, and it had to be eco-conscious; everything would be be reused, recycled, environmentally friendly, or where things were bought, they would be from small businesses.

Their venue, The Secret Herb Garden, Edinburgh, was their biggest expense of their £15,000 budget, but was a total steal for their theme; the abundance of flowers and greenery meant they needed very little in the way of additional decor in order to capture the mood they wanted. Stu had proposed to Raych the previous year in a field of wild heather, so it was absolutely perfect for them to get married a year to the day in a greenhouse full of wild heather, lavender, thyme and rosemary.
