Ashley and Lauren wanted an intimate, sexy vibe for their wedding. So they invited just forty guests and created a romantic, moody celebration. The lights were low, dramatic red drapery hung from the ceilings and walls, and the entire space was filled with lush florals and red pillar candles.

“Think moody romance meets editorial chic,” Ashley said when asked about their theme, “We were inspired by the idea of contrast: light and dark, soft and bold. We wanted an intimate sexy vibe that was full of love.”

Music was key, and every track was chosen with intention. Their officiant walked in to Fool for You by CeeLo Green, followed by Ashley’s entrance to Kanye West’s Flashing Lights. Finally, Lauren arrived with her father to Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros’ Home, played on violin. Both brides wrote their own vows.

At the reception, Lauren changed into a red ball gown, Ashley into an embroidered black tuxedo, and even Lauren’s son had a new look. All three wore sneakers, ready to hit the dance floor. Guests drank custom cocktails and queued for the photo booth while the music carried the night.

“Our favourite part of the planning was just being able to give a vision to our more than amazing team and watch it come to life before our eyes,” they explained. “On the day, the love that was felt throughout every moment was incredible.”

Asked what advice they’d give other couples: “It’s your day. It should be based on your love and how you see it fit”, they concluded. “Don’t plan based on the likes of others. Plan based on the vibe that YOU want to remember for the rest of your lives!”
