Trashy Tarantino Meet Punk Vegas Wedding

Mikkel and Yana flew in from Copenhagen to Vegas with one plan in mind: chaos wrapped in sequins. Their wedding was never going to be quiet or restrained. They described their theme as “Vegas. Punk. Rock ‘n’ Roll. Tarantino. Trashy fabulousness” and when they found their officiant, Hellvis, they knew they had the final piece. “He was the missing rhinestone”, they said.

They skipped the traditional rules. No choosing their outfits separately, no parental involvement, and definitely no guilt abut any of their decisons. “We skipped the whole ‘don’t see each other’s outfits’ tradition because honestly, why deprive ourselves of double the fun?” Yana said. “Helping pick each other’s looks was one of the best parts of planning. Also, no parents – and not because of drama, but because we wanted a rowdy friends-only elopement. Zero guilt, 100% fun.”

The day started with a rainstorm, traffic, and the very real chance of being late. But once Hellvis winked and cracked a joke, they stress dissipated and everything fell into place. Their vows were as unconventional as the setting. “The highlight being the jelly bean reward he pulled from his (un)holy Bible when we repeated them correctly!” they laughed.

After photos around the local area and The Neon Museum, the party moved to the Golden Tiki bar, where the couple and their friends were given a private area at the back. “The shoot with all our guests at the Neon Museum was so much fun”, they continued. “And the Evel Pie pizza pitstop with shots and slices was just such an ‘us’ thing.” Another moment that really stuck with them was being driven down the freeway in the back of a vintage Jaguar, sipping Arnbitter from the bottle on the way to the party.

When it came to money, they prioritised the photographer. “It was very important to us the evening was captured perfectly and we think the pictures speak for themselves. George made us look like rockstars and we’ll be smug about those pictures forever.” Having a fake cake made by a friend in Denmark which travelled across the Atlantic actually saved them money on getting a real cake, and choosing to reserve tables at the reception instead of booking out the entire space saved a significant amount. A Monday wedding helped too.

Their advice to others planning a rock ‘n’ roll Vegas wedding? “Do what you want to do as a couple, because it’s your day. Celebrate each other however feels right for you. Don’t worry too much about what everyone else thinks, and don’t take too much ‘advice’ to heart.”
