Fleur and Martin’s wedding focused on one simple idea: gather the people they love, head for the hills and celebrate without a strict schedule dictating the day. Their 18 guests were dressed in spring colours while the bride and groom wore white. They had a outdoor ceremony with views of the rolling hills and a lake.

The couple’s relationship moved quickly from the start. After meeting through their religious organisation, they added each other on Instagram. A quick DM turned into what she describes as “a whirlwind of romance and happiness”. Five months later he proposed and seven months after that, they were married.

There was one thing Fleur was never going to do, and that was hide her tattoos. They became a defining part of her bridal look, creating a striking contrast against the classic white dress. Other traditions, such as the cake cutting, having bridesmaids and groomsmen, and wedding favours were also skipped.

“We just wanted a big family BBQ vibes”, Fleur said. “We didn’t even have a seating plan, we just let people go where they wanted.”
Two long tables stretched across the deck while guests watched the sunset over the property. Fleur and her sister Paige handled the styling themselves, spending weeks debating measurements, table runners and linen lengths before finally bringing everything together. Another friend, Charlotte, did all the flowers.

Looking back, Fleur has some great advice. “Make a list of what you need for the wedding and focus on one thing at a time,” she said. “Ask for help if you need and just enjoy the process. You’ll never be engaged again (hopefully) and it all goes by in a flash.”
