The reference point foe Nina and Lenny’s wedding was dark botanical styling with taxidermy woven through the space. They were married in the bar area of FringeArts in Philadelphia. The weather was bad all day so they had to stay inside, luckily their theme had brought the outside in!

The décor was one of the bride’s main focuses, she loved pulling it all together. Nina selected the taxidermy pieces herself and treated them as part of the guest experience rather than fixed styling. Guests were even encouraged to take pieces home. “We wanted everything to feel like a moody botanical dream”, explained the bride, “Lush greens, curated taxidermy, and a hit of glam. With Lenny’s band lighting and Nina’s hairstyling artistry, adding our own creative fingerprints was the easiest part.”

Music was another area where tradition was ignored. Nina handled the playlist herself, avoiding standard wedding songs in favour of Y2K pop, techno and dance music, with more alternative tracks later in the night. Beach House and Mannequin Pussy featured heavily because the music reflected their everyday tastes.

“We would have loved to make it a three day event!” she concluded. “It never feels long enough. You can really have fun and make something uniquely yours and not a cookie cutter wedding I feel like we’re seeing more people style in these events and it makes it more special. The wedding blues after is so real unfortunately, but the photos and memories make it so worth it.”
