Whitney and Isaac are incredibly creative, so when it came to planning their pre-wedding engagement shoot, they knew they didn’t want the standard ‘lets go to a random location and take some average pics’ type vibe. Instead, they leaned into what makes them, them. Isaac started a painting during the shoot and then actually finished the piece. It now hangs in their home. They wanted their love (and their many creatures!) captured in a way that felt raw and real, mixing moody home life with artistic expression.

The shoot took place in Provo, Utah. “It is so easy to lose yourself in the trends or traditional wedding expectations, but we really pushed the limits with this engagement shoot to show the real couple, in a very beautiful way”, wrote photographers Jane and Kolya aka The Shukans. “The location was special and sentimental to them, as was it important to include the painting and wardrobe elements, as this couple has always stood out and are truly only interested in being themselves.”

It’s easy to get swept up in what engagement shoots are supposed to look like. Isaac and Whitney didn’t. They weren’t trying to be different. They were just trying to be seen. “DO YOU, AND STOP LISTENING TO EVERYONE ELSE!” Jane and Kolya advise. “It isn’t your mother’s, MIL, maid of honour, sister, brother or anyone else’s day. IT IS YOUR DAY. So make it yours.”
