This isn’t a styled shoot trying to sell you a dress or a venue. Its a love letter to the people who don’t see themselves in wedding magazines or Pinterest boards. The ones building new traditions, reflective of who they are.

Under the creative direction of queer photographer Evie Joy and planner The Wedding Planner Events, models Louisa and Katie stood beneath a wide-open sky to saw their ‘vows’. This wasn’t a real wedding, but as platonic best friends, it was actually every bit as moving. “The wedding industry often prioritises tradition and with this editorial we wanted to invites a different kind of story”, Evie wrote.

The styling was intentionally sustainable, with all garments and rentals sourced from consignment shops and thrift stores. They drew on western aesthetics with a queer twist, the looks merged vintage cowgirl flair with bold, glam-forward touches.

“The shoot was heavily influenced by the artistry of both Chappell Roan and Beyoncé” she continued. “Two icons whose recent work redefines femininity, sensuality, and the iconic queer cowgirl archetype. As a nod to the models’ spiritual practices, we also included a tarot reading to set intentions and infuse the shoot with quiet ritual.”

“I hope couples see this and realise they don’t have to fit into any box,” Evie concluded. “As a vendor team, we invite couples to show up as they are and embrace their most genuine versions of themselves. Our job is to create an environment that celebrates the couple as their authentic selves and document their day as such.”
