WIN Your Wedding Dress from Flaunt It by Fur Coat No Knickers!

Fur Coat No Knickers Flaunt It Group 16

It’s no secret that I am a Fur Coat No Knickers super fan. Laura and Emma are the purveyors of the friendliest bridal boutique in the country. No joke, these babes are some of the nicest human beings you will ever meet.

For years now they’ve been the go-to store for vintage wedding dresses, and in 2013 they expanded their range to include made to measure designs. All lovingly handmade in Britain, they wanted to be able to help every bride, whatever her shape or size. They love their vintage gowns, but with vintage sizing being stingy at the best of times, it was really hard for them to cater to anyone over a size 12.

“We love vintage dresses but by their nature they are on the small side”, they say. “Although we search for more realistic sizes, there have been occasions where we just can’t help. We hated that. So we set about designing our very own collection that would be every bit as beautiful as the dresses in our shop but available from size 8 to 22. That collection is Flaunt It.

“The designs are based on vintage dresses that we’ve found and loved over the years, with shapes that are very flattering. They are created from carefully chosen lace, tulle and silk organza which, to our eyes, don’t stand out as being too modern when hanging next to the original dresses.”

“The dresses can all be customised by taking away sleeves, adding different volumes of petticoat, coloured binding, sashes, headpieces and of course by tweaking the fit to the individual, just like we do with our vintage dresses.”

Laura and Emma have been inundated with love for their unique collection since they unleashed it on to the wedding world last year. So much so that they’ve now added six new styles to their already impressive line up.

Their new dresses, still all named after delicious cocktails, are: Swizzle Stick, Sidecar, Martini, Martini FizzBeauty Spot (an update of the original design) and Flirtini.

Laura and Emma want to give one very, very, very lucky bride-to-be the dress of her choice from the Flaunt It collection including all alterations and any accessories!* This is a truly incredible prize which, depending on your choices, is worth at least a couple of thousand pounds!

I have always adored vintage but put it out of my mind for my wedding as a plus size girl which broke my heart. This collection gives it hope again! I think I just make it in at january 4th as my wedding date and I hover between size 18 and 20 at the moment. When I picture my dream dress it has lace sleeves, a colourful sash, a sweetheart neckline and a full fluffy skirt. It HAS to be martini! So elegant but fun 🙂

  2. Jo

Wow, these dresses are so pretty. My favourite would have to be Flirtini. I’m getting married July 28th 2015. I have been despairing over choosing a dress that is flattering for my size 14-16 figure and within my ever diminishing budget. What a treat these dresses are 🙂

  3. Jenny Peoples

    Hi ladies!

I’ve been searching for a wedding dress for about 6 months to no avail. Why? Because baby got back! I’m a 10 on top with a small waist and then I have accentuated hips and a butt. Anything I’ve tried on so far has been beautiful either on top or on bottom, but not both.

The one that came closest to being chosen was Maggie Sottero’s Janelle which was beautifully embellished with a shouldered cape, but it just didn’t hang right.

I’m a 10 on top, 12 on bottom (and an 8 in my head!)

The style I’m looking for changes from dress to dress, but consistentlyni’m looking for light looking straps, embellishment, fitted and a certain va, va voom (or rather boom!)

We’re marrying next year on Saturday 1st August (2015).

Best of luck choosing your winner.

  4. Ellie

I adore the Bellini dress and can totally see myself walking down the aisle in it. I know the shape suits my figure (pear) and I love the lacey, retro look so much. I’ve seen a pair of vintage shoes online which would compliment the dress perfectly. Mmmmm…!
    I’m a size 10-12 and I’m getting married on 22nd August 2015 x

  5. Bex

I was convinced I was going to go for a full length dress, but your short dresses are so beautiful and so much more me, without compromising on the glamour…I’m inspired! The Bellini dress would be perfect for our August 2015 wedding <3

  6. Laura

My favourite style is the Flirtini as it is fun whilst still being classy. My wedding is in the summer of 2015 and I’ve been struggling to find a dress that is unique whilst still being “me”. I’m inbetween a size 10 and 12 so a custom made dress would be fab! xx

  7. Claire Apicella

I LOVE ALL the dresses it’s so hard to pick one!! And the models look fab! I really can’t choose just one but I love BOTH the dresses the red headed girl is wearing and the long sleeved lace number and vintage vail hat. I am currently a size 20 but hoping to slim down a bit over the next year leading up to the wedding which will be to my partner Laura in May/June next year (yet to pick a date!!) We are hoping to have a retro seaside themed wedding down near the witterings beach where we had our first date almost 9 years ago. So many of these dressed would tie in beautifully with our theme. The lace sleeves remind me of my grandmothers wedding dress- I love the vintage glamour look x

  8. Vicky

For me it has to be Flirtini, its perfect mix of vintage elegance and Hollywood starlet chic would definitely make my Teddy Boy all shook up at our Elvis wedding in Vegas (May 2016). And best of all it looks perfect for twirling, a very important factor for any little girl when buying a dress!

  9. Hi there, I absolutely love the Manhattan dress, and it would be stunning to be able to wear it for my wedding, taking place on September 15th 2015. We’re going for a vintage station theme – getting married on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch light railway, in Kent – with our own steam train! I can really see the dress looking amazing with some teal shoes and a retro veil, standing on the platform framed in the old train carriage with steam billowing out behind us. I’m between a size 14 and 16. Thanks for making it easier for us brides to find beautiful dresses that flatter our shapes, this is such a great thing.

  10. Karla hirst

I just adore all these dresses!! My fav has to be the martini fizz I just love the style and cut of the dress. Looks like it’s fizzing out too at the bottom just love love love it !!!!! With are vintage themed wedding on the 6th June 2015 it would just be perfect!!! Love all the dresses keep them coming !!!

  11. tess tickle

After having to postpone my wedding this year due to family bereavement I am very lucky to have been able to rearrange it for my dream wedding on May the 4th 2015 in Scotland by Jedi priest!!! We are going along the obvious route re theme but my dress was a problem (the Wookie look isn’t great for a bride!!!)so being a massive old school Hollywood glam fan so the Manhattan would be the ultimate dream dress for me. I would feel like a true movie star wearing it & being a size 12 would cling nicely in all the right places.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  12. Lucy Morris

My partner and I are hoping to get married October 31st 2015 the martini dress would go perfect with our autumnal theme!
    I’m a size 18 🙂

  13. I don’t know how you choose, your dresses are so beautiful. I have spent a long time looking for a dress that would represent my personality and the look of the wedding we are trying to achieve. Your martini dress definitely does that, I love the soft look of the all lace dress and know it would be perfect and beautiful. I am currently a size 14 and am getting married in sept 2015. I’d love the opportunity for you to be a part of making our day special x

  14. meg

Wow all the dresses look so beautiful I really love the short one the red haired girl is wearing in the pics (I love lace and always imagined my dress having lace sleeves), but they are all stunning, my wedding is September 5th 2015 I’m between a size 18-20…x x x

  15. Magenta Mittens

    Flirtini (flooː(r)ˈtiːni)
    1. Anything made with a glug of the hard stuff, a sprinkle of Bubbles and a dash of a tropical colour!

The above definition describes very yummy drink, a gorgeous dress from Fur Coat No Knickers and ME!

Which makes the Flirtini my dress and drink of choice for our upcoming September 2015 wedding/elopement to be performed by the captain of our cruise liner drifting somewhere in the cobalt waters of the Mediterranean sea. How could I not wear a size 18 vintage inspired confection to such an occasion…

  16. Jade Wood

Hi, I adore these dresses and couldn’t imagine a more perfect day all vintage and wearing either the Martini Fizz, or the Martini all lace!!! Sooo beautiful! I also love the vintage hair pieces!! Fur Coat No Knickers are the best vintage dresses I’ve EVER seen!! I’m a size 10-12 and my wedding is booked for March the 27th 2016!!! An Easter bank holiday vintage dream wedding xxxxxxx

  17. Sandra Ryan

The Martini Fizz is gorgeous. Just what I imagined twirling the night away in when I was a little girl playing make believe wrapped in a bed sheet. Ha! Plus… Martini! Yum. My dress size is a 14 and we’re getting married on the 6th April 2015. X x x

  18. Natalie

Manhattan, what a glorious dress! It’s a strong name, and like the cocktail is striking yet has a subtle delicacy that evokes images of vintage American glamour and elegance. The design is reminiscent of those tall iconic buildings such as Chrysler with the angular lines and curved details. I’m a tall girl at 5’10” and size 12-14 and so wearing a dress like Manhattan next August will help me feel that rare femininity and be proud of my stature. Some of the greatest movies in history are set on the streets of Manhattan, and wearing this dress would make me feel like a starlet.

  19. Deborah

I think Bellini is perfection and exactly what I’m looking for! My wedding date is 7th August 2015 and I’m a size 12.

  20. Jana

I absolutely love the Beauty Spot dress! I tried to find a vintage style dress in Germany, but the don’t sell them here.. 🙁 I’m a size 12 and my wedding is August 29th 2015.

  21. Leanne

I’m getting married in Greece and the Martini fizz would just look amazing out there! But all the dresses look beautiful so it’s a tough choice!!

  22. Rachael Francis

I love love LOVE the LOVED UP style. Absolutely stunning!
My wedding date is 28th may 2015
    I’m a size 10

  23. Natalie Scicluna

From the moment I became aware of the existence of FCNK, I knew without a doubt that this is where my wedding dress would come from. A friend of mine had his wedding featured in Rock ‘n Roll Bride and his wife’s heartfelt praise of the FCNK ladies, not to mention her stunningly beautiful vintage dress, really struck a chord with me. Deal done, when you know, you know – I hadn’t even met my fiance at that point! So which dress to choose? I adore the elegance of Champagne Fizz – I’m a sucker for a bit of Old Hollywood glam. However, I’m also smitten with the Bellini and as a lover of all things 50s, in addition to being ample of bosom and short of stature, this is the one. It’s true, giddy love. Also, I’m a big fan of a sleeve (props to Kate Middleton for hers) and the lace is pleasingly appealing to my Maltese heritage. I’m a size 12-14, the aforementioned bosom usually meaning I have to go for the latter (I’m not showing off – they’re the bane of my life). We haven’t set a date yet (we only got engaged a week ago!) but the venue recces and tightening of purse strings have commenced and we’d like June or July 2015. My birthday is in July and friends are forever failing to be available for celebrations because they’re away at weddings – well this time they can be at mine, dammit!

  24. Emma Ross

My favourite dress is the martini fizz. I love the shorter length vintage style as if is more flattering for me height and I love that the lace is just enough to cover the shoulders but leaving the arms uncovered. I am currently a size 14 and our wedding date is in September 2015. I love the fact that the dress can be customised to me. We want our wedding to be a real reflection of who we are!

  25. Naomi

Amazing news! My partner and I are having a Back to the Future inspired wedding on 24th Oct 2015 (the closest Saturday to when Marty travels to the future in the second film, fact fans!) so I’ve been daydreaming about a gorgeous 50s style dress for a while now! I absolutely love the sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves on the Flirtini dress and I’d love to add a blue sash for a flash of colour – just the right amount of quirk and glamour 🙂 I’m a size 12 and, with my boobs and bum, often feel like I was born into the wrong fashion era so hurrah for the whole Flaunt It range, I say!

  26. Toni Chapman-Jones

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Champayne Fizz dress, its elegant, vintage but still has an injection of fun. I am torn between Vintage and Bo Ho style dresses as I also love, long flowing dresses. Id love to win this competition as when im looking at dresses there’s always different elements of different dresses that id like together and simply can’t afford to pay for a custom made dress.

We haven’t set an exact date as of yet but it will be in August 2016 and im a size 22 atm….but soon to be on a diet haha!

Thank you for this amazing opportunity! xx

  27. Lorna A Hewitt

As a vintage addict for the best part of ten years, I have always dreamed of a 50s, long sleeved dress for my wedding (April 25th 2015) but I have seen so, so many more brides choosing this style over the last couple of years that I am swaying more and more to the long, sheath style dresses of the 20s. Do I remain true to my style or continue to search for the WOW factor in a long, embellished gown?I LOVE the Flirtini dress and think it is the most beautiful of the new additions to your hand made collection. Best of luck, Bridies to be! Xxx

  28. Rhian

my best friend Rachel has been bombarding me with links to the Fur Coat No Knickers website for about 18 months (I have only actually been engaged for about 4 weeks!). The dresses are so beautiful but I’ve always felt like I couldn’t afford one as our wedding budget is really small (Rachel’s was not!). I would really really really love the Bellini dress if I were to win the competition as I love the lace detailing on the arms and prefer the higher neckline. It’s funky and flattering while showing off the bits that i like and subtly covering up the bits that i dont! I am generally a size 16 – 18 and we are aiming to get married on the 21st of May 2016 which is our 5 year anniversary 🙂

  29. Katie Walton-Keane

Well arnt these just so well thought out!! They are beautiful!! We are due to be hand fasted march 2016…was supposed to be this coming march but we are now expecting our 3rd child in November. Our twins are 4 years old and they both say I would look nice in the champagne fizz dress the red head is wearing!! So I trust their judgment as I simply cannot decide!!i am a size 24 and 5ft6…xxx

  30. Ann Marie

What an incredible competition! The dresses are all so beautiful and look flattering, so it’s hard to only choose one… I want them all! Loved Up looks like it would suit me most out of all them though. It looks fun yet timeless and I would be able to fully show off the shoes that I’m planning to wear. I’m a size 12 with generous bosom, hips yet a small waist so I think these vintage styles would be the perfect choice. Wedding date is 28th August 2015 so fingers crossed that I will be lucky enough to win! If not; ill be visiting the shop anyways!

  31. sarah

I will be marrying my wonderful boyfriend on the 4 year anniversary of our first date on 28th February 2015. I had a really horrible experience with my first (and only so far) dress shopping attempt, which has really unexpectedly put me off the whole thing, so it would be lovely to have such a positive dress experience! I’m torn between Manhattan and Champagne Fizz but I think Champagne Fizz just wins for me as it reminds me of the dress that my great-grandmother wore in the 1930s. Because her and my Grandad were happily married for almost 75 years I’m drawn to those flirty, pretty styles. Juliet cap veil obligatory! We will also be tying the knot in a beautiful 1930’s ballroom so it would feel very authentic 🙂 I’m currently a 12/14.

  32. Alice Tyler

I fell in love with a vintage gown but was so let down when it didn’t go up to my size! I’m a curvy 16 up top and 20 on my hips! I’m in love with the Martini dress, all lace and a perfect silhouette! We’re getting married in May 2017 and I haven’t fallen in love with any other dresses! Having a dress that’s made to fit with flattering shapes for us bigger ladies would make my day even more amazing! X

  33. Angela

    Hi there ! 🙂
Wow these dresses are so prettyyy !
My absolute favourite is ‘Champagne Fizz’, I’m all for lace at the moment.
I get married on 30/12/2014 and have spent so many months searching for a vintage wedding dress that would fit my size (16/18) – please let me win or I may have to go naked !!
    A xxx

  34. Gemma Tofiluk

Hello ladies, I absolutely adore your dresses and think its brilliant how you can bring the vintage experience to everyone, regardless of their shape and size. I’m getting married 27th June 2015 on a Shropshire farm estate so the whole theme of the day is vintage garden party and your flirtini and martini dresses are exactly the kind of style I love-elegant, simple but also very girly. Money is tight due to just having my 2nd daughter and moving to a new home so winning one of your gorgeous dresses would be a dream come true. I’m a size 14 at the moment but am hoping to be back to my normal 10-12 by June next year (if I can bear to put down the chocolate after getting up 5 times in the night!). Many thanks and keep up the good work xxx

  35. Helen

I’m hoping to get an appointment at FCNK when I visit my best friend in London in July, so it would be amazing to win my dress! Our day is going to be a full on adventure involving plenty of walking, boats, trains, a fish & chip shop and ending with an amazing view over Dartmouth so finding the perfect dress that I feel gorgeous in, but doesn’t stop me fully enjoying every part of our day is a bit of a challenge!!!
Having already tried on a few dresses I think Loved Up would suit my figure the best, although I love Martini Fizz too! Our wedding is 28th March 2015 and I’m a size 14 x

  36. Danielle

Has to be Flirtini! Gorgeous design, been hunting high and low for tea length vintage style that I like. I get married on 18th November 2015, currently size 18/20 but aiming for a 14/16 for the day xx

  37. Amanda S

Having struggled with BDD and self esteem issues since teenage years, the prospect of wedding dress shopping, sharing my figure with strangers & being the centre of attention was mortifying despite having a high profile job. I visited other dress suppliers and felt deflated, criticised and certain I wouldn’t find anything. After reading about FCNK on your blog & the philosophy of Flaunt It, I went to meet Laura, who was so enthused, attentive and made me feel so comfortable (the comfy waist cincher helped), I got really emotional & knew I wanted Laura & Emma to make my dress. I felt they could help to make me feel pretty for my day which was half the battle won. I fell in love with martini fizz & have ideas for customisation. Oh and a pillbox birdcage veil. I’m a 14 at the moment, I marry my lovely Harry on Glastonbury on 19 Sept 2015. X

  38. Laura jones

I’m getting married 26/03/15 and I have bought a wedding dress that everyone else convinced me to buy and that I hate, it actually makes me wana cry when I think about wearing but st a size 22 I didn’t think I had much choice. I really wanted something like your champagne fizz dress it’s absolutely stunning x

  39. Hannah

I love these dresses and can relate to the problem of finding a dress that I love and fits my ample curves. I get married next May and am planning a multicoloured vintage inspired extravaganza. Venue is booked (Southsea Castle) and I’m roping in everyone I know to help craft the day. Chris and I share our lives with fantastic friends and our fabulous families who inspire us and have supported us through so much. We want our day to be a celebration of our love and a thanks to all who’ve shared our journey. I think the icing on the proverbial wedding cake would be to dressed in the beauty spot dress with a bright teal sash and petticoat. I know that our day will be amazing whatever but I think this dress would make it perfect. Xxxx

  40. Emma

Wow! I have looked at this range of dresses over and over, following FCNK on facebook, gutted that they are sadly beyond my budget!
I absolutely order the Martini Fizz dress, particularly with the short sleeves as worn by the red haired model. She is stunning! I have my hair this colour, and I’d love to look as beautiful as her on my wedding day.
Martini Fizz is my favourite because of the lace illusion neckline, it’s beyond gorgeous.
My wedding is 26th August 2016. We are having a “Wartime Fete” themed wedding with a barn reception. It would fit beautifully.
    I am dress size 14.
Everything crossed! 🙂 Thank you xxx

  41. Gemma McGrory

Wow! Your dresses are beautiful! It’s hard to pick but I’d go for the Martini-I have my heart set on a dress with lace sleeves, and the lace over the skirt looks just gorgeous too. I’m a size 10 and getting married to my lovely fiancé on Jan 23rd 2016 xx

  42. Amy Bannister

I have actually tried on this collection and can vouch for the girls being the friendliest in the business…no other shop has compared in my ongoing quest! The shop is beautiful and the touches, such as a glass of champers and beautiful accessories (not to mention Rachel Simpson shoes) make it perfect. I was so nervous, but was put completely eased and actually enjoyed the experience!
My favourite, and indeed ultimate dress, is the Gin and It. It’s beautiful vintage lace and nipped in waist give a gorgeous shape and silhouette. It suited my size 14 curves perfectly, and I felt in it the way I always wanted to feel on my wedding day. As it was the first shop I visited I needed something to compare it too, and have found that unfortunately nothing does! Having said that, although the dresses are excellent value for their quality and detail, sadly I think it is beyond my reach, which is why I would so love to win this competition for my wedding on 1st August 2015.

  43. Sarah

    Hello Ladies,

My wedding is on 4th April 2015 (Easter Wedding!!!) and I have always loved the vintage theme! A vintage wedding has been my dream ever since I first saw my Grandparents wedding photograph, when I was younger. They were married in 1961 and looked so glamorous and handsome. The type of dress I would love, is inspired by what my Nana wore on her big day – a 50’s style, tea length dress with 3/4 length sleeves (The Martini and Martini Fizz dress with short sleeves are just perfection). I have been struggling to find the perfect vintage dress in my size (20/22)and in my budget. However your whole collection is just gorgeous. I am hoping to lose a few pounds and dress sizes before my big day though, but like any vintage bride I just love tea and cake 🙂
Good luck to all the brides who have entered, I hope your big days are all that you hope! Sarah xxxx

  44. Vlasta

I love web Because it’s the only good inspiration for my wedding dress. I come from the Czech Republic and there are any wedding dress just for slim brides. Plus size bride to be married in pants. I’m so sorry. I would like to have a beautiful dress. Iam plus size bride. My size is 28. And I fell in love with the dress Bellini.
My Measurements:145 cm Bust, 120 cm waist, 145 cm hips.
Here in Czech Republic can not seamstresses sew dresses for size 28.
They say – You have to wear pants. The dress does not fit you… but I love skirts and dresses in the style of rock and roll
    Our wedding will be 4.7.2015.
Please select me, I want to show that even plus size Bride of Czech can look great

  45. Natalie

I am getting married on 21st June 2015 and would love the sidecar dress. It is stunning!

  46. Kerry

I love FCNK and have them on my dresses shortlist! I adore Beauty Spot, and am currently a size 18 but willing myself to be a 16 in time for our big day on 8th August 2015!

  47. Lee-Anne smith

I’d love a dress that actually complements my curves. Being a size 16/18 most dress pictures and websites have been actually intimidating. It’s so refreshing to see dresses on real women that flatter them. I love the capped selves and lace overlay styles so would have to go for martini fizz. Our wedding is on 28th of May next year and I’ve had very little confidence to try on dresses but looking at your collection I can see that being a beautiful size 16 bride is possible. Good luck to all the other lovely ladies on this site hope we all get our dream dress and feel truly beautiful no matter what our sizes.

  48. Bookworm's Revenge

Bellini – love the high neck and sleeves with the lace detail, plus who doesn’t love that style of skirt 🙂
I’m a 10/12, getting married 02nd May 2015 (fingers crossed the weather is sunny & dry), thanks & good luck to everyone xoxo

  49. Joanne preston

I’m getting married for the second time June 6th 2015 and I’m finding it really hard to get something different. I’m now in my fortys and when I go into the shops I’m shown suites !!! Not even my grandmother would wear these I’m 6ft tall and a size 18 I’m loving manhattan but also love sidecar. My daughter is 8 and loves vintage already she would die if I won
