Keira & Jack wanted an intimate wedding with their nearest and dearest. They were married in July in New South Wales. “Our inspiration was very eclectic”, described the bride. “We didn’t stick to any particular colours or themes. We knew that we didn’t want to have your typical sit down dinner; we wanted people to have the chance to talk to each other, rather than being trapped on their tables.”
The ceremony was held at the NSW Writers’ Centre and their reception was at The Country Trader, an antiques warehouse. “Jack and I are both quite shy, so we wanted to keep our ceremony to the bare minimum”, continued the bride. “I walked down the aisle to ‘Here Comes Your Man’ by the Pixies – I think the whole ceremony lasted seven minutes.”
“Our wedding was different because I let my husband pick just about everything, including the bridesmaid dresses! I had never really thought about getting married and had very limited ideas and visions. When Jack found The Country Trader I knew it was perfect. The first time we visited the store they were having a carnival themed party and they had the most amazing vintage carnival props. It was amazing. We had all these ideas for DIY decorations, but after a few months we started to lose steam. We were lucky that The Country Trader is always decorated to perfection, but if I could go back, I would have done more to add those personal touches, especially at the ceremony site.”
Keira wore two dresses, a short wedding dress by Couture by Francesca for the ceremony and portraits, and a dark green party dress for the reception. “My favourite part of our wedding was when Jack and I finally arrived at our reception”, she explained. “I took my wedding dress off straight away and changed into a shorter green dress and instantly started to feel calmer. Our friends met us there earlier and we had a glass of wine and tried to relax before our guests arrived. The speeches were also a highlight and Jack surprised me by singing my favourite Wilco song. Even though I’m usually cool as a cucumber, I ended up shedding a few tears.”
Breathtaking. I love the relaxed and simplw vibe of this wedding and how stunning the photographs are. Thank you to Keira & Jack and their wedding photographer Len of I Love Wednesdays for sharing today.
