A Carousel Wedding: Lucy & Mini
May 16, 2012
When you set your wedding around a vintage carousel it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a fun-filled and awesome day right? That’s exactly what Lucy & Mini had when they found
Preston Court in Kent, and even the rain couldn’t stop them having the time of their lives! “Lucy & Mini chose an outdoor wedding and were married under a pretty little gazebo on Juliana’s Island which their guests sat across a little stream to watch,” wedding photographer Jennifer West told me.
“All was well until there was a huge downpour which soaked all the guests. Luckily everyone saw the funny side. Lucy & Mini walked down the aisle (well, the path) as husband and wife to ‘Lucy in the sky with diamonds’. The torrential rain lasted most of the day until the end when the sun came out and lots of fun photos were taken on the carousel while the sun was setting.”
The day was relaxed and fun with homemade touches everywhere. These included the flowers, the centrepieces, the stationery…and even the brides dress which her mother had made!
Gorgeous. Thank you to Jennifer and the lovely Lucy & Mini for sharing their beautiful wedding with us today.

A Colourful Multicultural Wedding: Piyush and Bex
October 12, 2012
Gosh where does one begin with a wedding like Bex & Piyush's? This is pretty much what wedding bloggers dreams are made of... at least mine are anyway!
Bex & Piyush wanted to celebrate the heritage of both families in their wedding. The wedding was an Indian/Western fusion celebration at Heaton House Farm near Macclesfield. Unlike many mixed-background couples, they opted to have just one ceremony incorporating both a Western civil ceremony alongside Indian traditions. Bex & Piyush didn't want to have two separate ceremonies, preferring to represent both their heritages together. "Our wedding was a bright, colourful, inclusive, multicultural and non-religious, light-hearted day, providing an alternative to the inherent narcissism of traditional wedding", began Bex. "We had the wedding on an English farm, complete with views of rolling hills, wellies and rain showers."
A Quirky Alice in Wonderland Wedding: Nic & Ed
September 28, 2012
Nic & Ed chose Gaynes Park in Epping as the perfect spot for their June wedding. "It is the most amazing venue ever and their food is the highlight", explained the bride, "In fact people are still raving about it now, it was better than any restaurant I've ever been to! It's also a beautiful space, which didn't need a lot doing to it which was perfect for us. I just put a few bits here and there to make it 'ours'."
"My inspiration came from my love of cakes and Alice in Wonderland. Ed was very happy to let me go off and try and put as much of 'me' into the wedding as I could. My aim was for people to know if was our wedding."
Debs & Richie’s Budget Friendly, Crafty & Vintage Wedding
January 6, 2011
When photographer Emma Case emails me with "eeek's!" and "wooohoo's!" when talking about her latest wedding I stand by and prepare myself for greatness. I am SO EXCITED to share Debs & Richie's wedding as not only did I blog their fabulous engagement session just before Christmas, but they used Rock n Roll Bride as inspiration for their awesome vintage wedding.
"When Richie & I got engaged we did not have a clue what we wanted our wedding to be like, all we knew was that we wanted it quite small, with only close family and friends, good food, good music, and wanted it to reflect on us as a couple as much as possible. Our budget was small and we began to panic! How are we going to manage to create a wedding on such a small budget, that's when I turned to the Internet and found a number of wedding blogs (Rock n Roll Bride was one of the first) that gave me loads of inspiration on how different weddings can be, and how much of your own personality you can add to your special day! I became obsessed with the blogging world, I had bookmarked hundreds of images made folders upon folders and my inspiration began to expand."
Handmade Pub Wedding: Lisa & Damien

Childhood sweethearts Lisa and Damien met in school. They then attended the same 6th form, college and university! Being together so long, they really wanted their wedding to represent them as a couple.
Pretty Pastel DIY Wedding: Joey & Mike
January 14, 2013
I'm definitely not only of those girly girls. I favour a bold and modern aesthetic over pretty pastels any day. But Joey & Mike's wedding slayed me when it landed in my inbox recently. And 'pretty' is really the only word I can use to best describe what I saw.
Pastel Colours for a 1950s Inspired Wedding: Emily & James
June 14, 2012
As soon as I laid eyes on Emily's incredible silver embellished 1950s inspired wedding dress I was smitten. What an utterly gorgeous bride and a completely beautiful wedding. I couldn't wait to get it on these digital pages of mine! The couple were married at Edes House, Chichester and had their reception at the groom's father's house in Bosham.
"We wanted our wedding day to completely reflect James and I", Emily told me. "This was something we kept in mind during the whole process, as I think it is easy to lose sight of what and who weddings are for, when you are surrounded by so many people in the wedding industry telling you that you absolutely need this and definitely need that.
We both adore the 1950s and the pastel shades, and I really feel like these things were very present in the whole day. We also chose from the beginning which things would be the most important to us - these ended up being the food/drink for James and the flowers for me. We chose a catering company who were very local and produced the most delicious food. We hand picked each of the types of alcohol we chose, with Arundel Ales coming from Sussex and the cider coming from Appledram which is just around the corner from the reception."
An Elegant & Eclectic North London Wedding: Tommy & Emma
May 28, 2012
Tommy & Emma were married at Stoke Newington Town Hall, with a reception at the amazing The Roost in Dalston, London. Far from a traditional wedding venue, it often plays host to TV or film crews and provided a really unique and quirky setting for their celebration. "Our wedding was homemade & eclectic", Emma explained "elegant with rough edges… a bit like us!"
Opulent Vivienne Westwood Inspired Wedding: Sashy & Dashy
November 25, 2013
When wedding photographer Anna Hardy told me that she just shot a wedding where the bride wore the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress from the first Sex and the City movie, I was excited, damn excited. As someone who not only owns the entire box set of SATC but pretty much watched in a week straight when I got it, I couldn't wait to see how a real bride looked in this iconic gown. And the answer? FIERCE.
