Budget-Friendly Colorado Micro Wedding with a Gatsby Inspired Gown

After eloping at home in November 2020 with no formal written vows, Sonora and Jermaine made up for it in the presence of their closest friends and family a year later at the beautiful Table Mountain Inn in Golden, Colorado. They told us, “It was deeply moving, especially because every single guest (all 20 of them!) knows us personally and has been a part of our lives before and after we met.”

The couple met on OKCupid, feeling a connection the very first time they spoke, and had their first date a week later. Incorporating all the things they loved in their wedding, Sonora told us, “I really wanted the planning process to be authentically ‘us’, so we didn’t set a theme. We went with rose gold and blush colours, and were inspired simply by our love – warm, sparkly and timeless. We wanted to throw a party for our favourite people after a year of not being able to spend quality time together.”

Snowy Colorado Elopement at Sunset with Disco Balls & Champagne

Dani and Dacari had been discussing how their big day would look for a long time. Having been together for eight years, they decided to elope because, as they told us, “The stress of figuring out how to include everything and everyone started to chip away at something that was supposed to feel like magic – elopement was the best choice that we could have made for ourselves and our union. We wanted the freedom to commit to each other in a way that felt deeply personal and private.”

The simplicity of an elopement means you can pick and choose exactly what you want (and don’t want!) included, making it deeply personal to you as a couple. Dacari and Dani continued, “The best thing about planning our wedding happened after we broke outside of the expectation of things looking a certain way. We leaned into the idea of choosing things that felt right for us and that felt like fun–and that’s when things really started to fall into place. We enjoyed picking things out and envisioning what our day would look like.”

Self-Solemnised Elopement in The Colorado Mountains

Jordan and Isaiah wanted an intimate wedding. Having met very young and not realised the crushes that they had on each other for many years, they reunited and fell in love over a decade later. Their elopement was an adventure, with no traditional wedding planning.

They chose to self-solemnise their ceremony too, which means they didn’t have an officiant. This is actually legally recognised in in Colorado too making it the perfect extra-intimate choice!

“We wanted to have time together, just us. We’re from and live in Ohio so we wanted an escape and both have love for the mountains. We had our first look and setup a picnic in the woods with pizza and beer. We then self-solemnised (married without an officiant) in the mountains and hiked to a explore a cave and finished off our day dancing in the rain to our wedding song Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton.”

Dark and Moody Colorado Mountain Elopement

If the thought of planning a huge wedding sends you into a panic, how about an adventure elopement? Tiffany and Greg chose the stunning Cottonwood Pass in Colorado, taking just Greg’s brother and Tiffany’s sister and her fiancé to their mountain wedding.

Tiffany explained, “The best thing about planning our day was that there was really no one to worry about but us. That in itself takes so much pressure off of you with the planning. I felt such freedom with being able to have the day go however I wanted, as many different stunning locations I wanted and a completely flexible timeline that we didn’t have to stick to. Adventure elopements really are the way to go.”

Keen to do their own thing and include exactly what they wanted, Tiffany chose a black lace dress from Flutter Dress, teaming it with black fishnet tights, and Greg wore jeans and a Ben Sherman jacket. They both wore Dr Martens, perfect for their style, and for hiking halfway up a mountain! They told us, “We did everything polar opposite of what’s considered traditional. From eloping vs a wedding, our location, our attire. We just wanted to do our own thing and be the truest versions of ourselves and just focus on each other for the day.”

Secret & Scenic Colorado Elopement

As wanderers, Karie and Jared wanted to encompass their desire to explore the majestic mountains of Colorado for their September 2020 wedding. Their secret elopement was romantic, scenic, and most importantly – unique to them.

Katie wore a dusky blue Chantel Lauren dress with hiking boots, of course, and an aquamarine ring from Zacchariah Zypp & Co. Jared wore a Men’s Wearhouse suit and his ring was from Jewelfire Diamonds. Karie reminisced; “changing into a wedding dress and suit in the back of a rented SUV while hurricane-force winds threatened to steal anything that wasn’t nailed down kicked off our adventurous and unforgettable day.”
