This shoot is a riot against the beige, minimal, Pinterest-approved wedding machine, this shoot came to us by-way of a new team of wedding suppliers from South Africa who wanted to push what it means to create a “styled wedding shoot”.

“The idea behind this love story was to create a bold, maximalist wedding shoot that completely rejects the current trend of minimal, Pinterest-perfect weddings”, writes photographer Brett of Black Stag Creative. “This shoot is the opposite of that – it’s loud, it’s dramatic, it’s playful, and it’s completely over the top. I want it to feel exciting and show-stopping – the kind of imagery that makes people stop mid-scroll and really look.”

“We wanted it to be a visual response to the idea that weddings have to look a certain way, that they have to follow a certain aesthetic to be luxury or beautiful. This shoot is about breaking that idea apart. It’s anti-wedding in the best way – a celebration of individuality, self-expression, and the fun of just doing whatever the hell feels right for you.”

Stylist Jane of The Rejoyce Collection pulled together all the looks from her eclectic collection of vintage, upcycled and reclaimed pieces. She explains, “I love the celebration of slow fashion, embracing preloved to promote sustainability and creativity. It is such a rush to find something unique that someone has discarded and how that can live on and becomes someone’s treasure, and that each piece has a story of its own.”

Everything featured was thrifted, preloved, upcycled or reclaimed, layered into a maximalist explosion that proves luxury doesn’t have to mean brand-new. Inspired by legacy, slow fashion, and unapologetic joy, this concept rejects trends and perfection in favour of personality and play.
