Sometimes the simple ideas are the best: a couple in love, a purple veil and a rollerskates – I mean, what’s not to love about that?!
Photographer Madison Neuman first had the idea for this shoot while driving past the Rothman Orthopedics roller rink in Dilworth Park, PA. With its checkerboard floor and ribbons overhead, the space already looked like a backdrop waiting for a story. She knew she wanted to use it, but the rink is seasonal. So she waited. Over the next year, the vision came together slowly: a bright, joyful elopement shoot that felt rooted in Philadelphia and reflected the energy of the space itself.

When the rink returned the following spring, so did the idea and this time she had a clear direction. The concept centred around an accessible, city-based elopement, built from elements that felt fun, unfussy, and true to life. A bright purple veil by Philadelphia designer Madison Chamberlain set the tone, paired with affordable outfits (the bride’s from Forever 21, the groom’s from Amazon!) and food that could have come straight from a convenience store run.

Ivana and Chika are a real couple who live in the city and their chemistry carried the frames. “The result is something authentic”, Madison told us, “Whether it’s unique, trendy, traditional, or entirely offbeat from any wedding you’ve been to. Follow your gut and make your day you and you will love it.”
