When they first met at the Brighton Tattoo Convention in 2015, Lauren and Glyn never imagined they’d one day be getting married – for the second time – under neon lights with a rock’n’roll Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas. But to mark five years of marriage, that’s exactly what they did: a vow renewal and the honeymoon they never had, all rolled into one.

“We really wanted our vow renewal to be all about enjoying Vegas for its quirks and fun,” Lauren explained. “Tattoos, pizza, sunset, and bright lights…. And of course, Hellvis!” Hellvis, for the uninitiated, is a tattooed, leather-clad Elvis impersonator with a love of mischief and a knack for ceremony. He also happened to be the turning point in their planning journey. “Searching for the right venue took a long time. I think that’s down to having never visited Vegas before. But once we came across Hellvis, it was decided!”

Before the ceremony, the couple got tattoos at Downtown Tattoo (which is right next door!) and afterwards they ended the night on the curb outside Evel Pie, sharing a slice and a beer on Fremont Street.

“We skipped all the bulky stuff,” Lauren said. “We just did everything we wanted and actually had no one else to think about or consider. The whole day was spent laughing and smiling. We do wish we had our kids with us for the memories, however it was also lovely to have some time away as a couple. We didn’t really get a honeymoon after our first wedding so this was a honeymoon and renewal in one.”

The biggest expense? The flights and hotel. The biggest saving? “Having no guests, no reception.” And if they could have splurged more? “Outfits and rings,” the bride said, without hesitation.

Planning a wedding in Vegas, even from the other side of the Atlantic, was actually pretty straight-forward as they didn’t have anyone else to worry about. All they really had to do was book the chapel as Hellvis and the bouquet came as part of their package! Their photographers and videographers, The Costa Sisters, came over with them from the UK.
“I think it’s so easy to plan a wedding in Vegas!” Lauren concluded. “There are no rules so we just got to do what made us happy!”
