Emily and Ben’s 2019 wedding was held at Joe’s Garage, a restored 1920s-era former mechanics, in Catskill, NY. They simply wanted their day to be laid back and comfortable for everyone. “We wanted great food, music, and to be surrounded by our friends and family”, the bride told us.

The wedding favours were local honey jars made by Jeff, a close friend of the bride’s grandma who sadly passed away a few months before the wedding. On the tables where simple centrepieces of white, peach and greenery floral arrangements in brass vases and white votive candles. The couple made the seating chart, table cards and letter boards.

“We wanted our wedding to be a dinner party with dancing and that was exactly what we got”, she continued. “There was no huge list of pre-planned photos, rehearsed ceremony, speeches or anything that everyone tells you is necessary. We slowly planned our wedding over three years. We had the venue, caterer, and photographer booked early on, but knew nothing about the details until a few months before.”

The bride, who wore two Hailey Paige dresses (Lulu and Cleo), walked down the aisle to I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by Sleeping at Last and they walked out together to Won’t Stop by OneRepublic. The ceremony was officiated by Ben’s dad who also read the E.E. Cummings poem, May My Heart Always Be Open a Little.

For their reception entrance they arrived to Blank Space by Taylor Swift. “We adore her!” Emily said. “We actually both have Taylor Swift tattoos. I even announced our engagement with the caption, ‘So it’s gonna be forever or it’s gonna down in flames’.”

The reception was both of their favourite moment from the day. “I talked to every guest that attended and it was wonderful to enjoy everyone’s company. It was beautiful to see all our friends and family having such a great time. We were complimented endlessly on how relaxed our wedding was, which is just what we wanted.”
