Célie and Jonathan’s French wedding is so damn stylish I don’t even know where to begin! The were hitched in Strasbourg at the city hall, followed by a reception at Le Villa Mathis.
“We were inspired by industrial style and the idea that we wanted to keep it simple”, began the bride. “I also loved looking at Pinterest and Solange Knowles’ wedding really inspired my outfit!”
The bride’s jumpsuit came from ASOS and she wore it with orange shoes to match their modern colour scheme. All the reception decor was homemade. “All the industrial details that we handmade by ourselves. The fact that I wore a jumpsuit was pretty unique. Also, we got dressed and prepared in front of each other and did everything together. It was also really special that we were able to have our son with us. We got married after eight years together and, above all, we wanted to celebrate our love story.”
“It’s hard to pick one favourite part of the day”, she continued. “It was great from the beginning to the end. We feel very lucky. But if I really had to pick one, the ceremony was very full of emotions.”
“Our venue as the biggest cost but we saved a lot of money on our outfits. Because as long as it fits you well, it’s hard to really tell the quality when you’re not an expert. We did save a bit on the Villa though because we had the wedding on a Friday and it was way cheaper than a weekend booking.”

When this photo shoot landed in my inbox this week with the description "Barbie & Ken's wedding" I thought oh christ...what's this?! However I've got to say that as soon as I saw the photographs my initial sceptism and preconceptions were totally irradicated. I laughed as I looked at each photo, set up to show Barbie & Ken getting married and photographed in the way an actual wedding might be. The quality of the photos are totally brilliant - and there lies the hilarity.

A Modern Wedding on an Aeroplane: Robyn & Tom

Both air traffic controllers, and with a mutual attention to detail and love for planes, Robyn & Tom were thrilled when they were allowed to get married on a Pacific Western plane at Edmonton Aviation Museum. "It took a lot of convincing but the museum were gracious to allow the bride and groom to use the airplane", explained their Canadian wedding photographer Elizabeth of ENV Photography. "Guests were assigned seats on a seating chart that mimicked the chart that you pick your seat from when booking your plane ticket! Prior to the groom walking down, his sons and daughter walked down the aisle and handed out cookies to all the guests - just like a real airline!"

A Wedding on a Budget with Portraits in IKEA: Janet & Dave
Kat
September 17, 2012
I'm rather partial to IKEA... I know it's not the fanciest of home stores, but whenever I persuade Gareth that we need a trip there (I'm sure we're due another one soon) I feel like a proper grown up. I can actually afford the stuff (like who decided £2000 was standard for a table and chairs? pah John Lewis, PAH!) and it makes me feel all educated buying things with Swedish names. Plus their items are always pretty... even if not always functional - "why yes Gareth I do need that cardboard deer head to put on my office wall..." And don't even get me started on the kids department. I just wish the pink chest of drawers came in adult size...
So when wedding photographer and all round cool dude Chris Barber sent me Janet & Dave's wedding I was excited. Not just because of Dave's Rock n Roll stylings but because they chose the Coventry Ikea as the location for their wedding day portrait sesh. GENIUS! Oh and they spent just £4000 on their day. I'm IN AWE.

An 18th Century & Marie Antoniette Inspired Indonesian Wedding: Cindy & Sebastian

I saw this wedding and I instantly fell in love - with the location, with dress and with Cindy & Sebastian themselves. Prepare to be transported into wedding inspo heaven...
The Indonesian wedding was held at St Laurentius church with the reception that followed at Maxi's Cafe in Bandung. The couple were inspired by 18th century french opulence and Marie Antoniette for their theme. They transformed their reception venue into the Gardens of Versailles. "Marie Antoinette has been an inspiration to me since I was very young", explained Cindy. "I remember buying a lot of things related to Marie Antoinette, like grayish blue color apparels, pictures and even cakes that reminded me of her. That is why I chose to take my cue from her on my wedding theme. I searched and decided on things mostly on my own - decorations, flowers, my wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses, the wedding cake, accessories and ambiance music. I loved how our wedding was filled with details that go back to her era."

The wedding ceremony was held in the bride's parent's back garden which they decorated themselves. Alexis picked all the flowers and pulled together a bouquet of wheat for Elodie to carry down the aisle.
As I said in this morning's post, the couple are both deaf and found their film-loving deaf photographer Ashton Jean-Pierre at World Deaf Art Festival in Reims, near Paris, last Summer.

New Year's Eve might not cross everybody's mind as a date to get married, but for Tyler & Martin it couldn't have been more perfect!
"Martin and I are a little obsessed with The Flaming Lips," Tyler explained. "He introduced me to the band early in our relationship. He took me to my first show...it was New Years Eve, Halloween and pure happiness all in one night! I’ll never forget watching another couple get engaged that night and telling Martin that would be a pretty awesome way to do it. Apparently he filed that information away. A couple years later during our yearly pilgrimage to Bonnarooo, Martin proposed to me under a shower of confetti and balloons while The Flaming Lips played 'Do You Realize.' It was perfect."
