Ballet might not seem very Rock n Roll… and for all intents and purposes it is anything but ‘edgy’, but when I saw this pretty, colourful and quirky set of wedding images, I knew I had to share them with you!
Photographer, Kimberly Mitiska, told me all about their inspiration. “This shoot took place at the beautiful Colorado Ballet. Once we picked out the pink wedding dress for one of our brides we knew that the Colorado Ballet would be a perfect match for the vision of the shoot. To top it off this lovely bride used to do ballet so she had some old pointe shoes that I incorporated into the photographs.”
“The shoot was created to put more same sex stylised shoots into the world while keeping both brides playful and super girly!”, she continued. “I wanted this shoot to be really colourful since I’m slightly obsessed with bright colours and showcasing them in my photography. This shoot is feminine and elegant with a modern twist.”
“Too often in the wedding world it seems same sex couples don’t have even a third of the inspirational wedding content as straight brides”, she concluded. “If you do see same sex shoots almost always one female is wearing a suit or being identified as a more masculine figure.”
“There are tons of different gender roles in all relationships and I think all different kinds are wonderful. There’s no right or wrong way to get married and that was a big piece of inspiration for this session.”
