The term ‘Trash the Dress’ is thrown about a lot in this industry so it’s nice to see a shoot where I can comfortably call it a ‘real’ Trash the Dress shoot – boy is this David’s Bridal number destroyed!
The shoot took place at Dry Lake Bed in Las Vegas, Nevada and the theme was Superman and Lois Lane having a great time (!) Eric, the groom is a huge Superman superfan and their wedding theme was actually, Superman Chic (
which you can see for yourself here.) “Honestly, we just wanted them have a great time and I think that definitely shows” photographer Mike explained. “We believe they are a Rock n Roll couple because Nichole destroyed her dress and at the end of the day, she decided to shadowbox it and hang it in their house as their own personal work of art. Her dress will never be locked away in a box, it will always be on display for all to see and that is pretty rockin’.”
Thanks to Mike for sharing this hilarious shoot with us

Susan’s Paint The Dress Shoot
April 15, 2011
Susan wanted to get back into her wedding dress for a memorable photo shoot for her anniversary. When she married Jesse 10 years ago they had some trouble with their photographer (who, ahem, ended up in jail) so although they received some 4 x 6 prints, they didn't manage to get an album or any photo enlargements made. They were also pretty unhappy with the portraits of Susan from the images they did get, and none of them showed off her beautiful dress in all it's glory.
Music-Inspired ‘Trash the Dress’ in Brick Lane
April 27, 2013
When wedding photographer Emily Johnson ran a trash the dress competition on Rock n Roll Bride, she hoped she might find some cool babes to shoot. And, oh boy, did she! One of the first winners was Ruth Power, a musician from New Zealand. Ruth wanted a shoot that reflected her love of music, showcased her personal style and took place in and around Brick Lane, London, which she now calls home.
A Macabre Sweeney Todd Inspired Wedding Shoot: Amy & Paul
April 5, 2013
I'm not going to lie, I'm a little freaked out by this shoot... in fact I'm damn right scared. I don't think I'd like to get stuck in a dark alley with this pair as lovely as I bet they are when they're not covered in fake blood. Amy & Paul went all out with this post-wedding shoot - murder, fake blood, suicide and all!
Warning: this baby is not for the faint hearted. I'm under no disillusion that not everybody is going to like or 'get' this. But Paul & Amy do and really, that's all that matters isn't it?!
A Glitter Bridal/Trash the Dress Shoot
April 30, 2012
For her bridal shoot Emma wanted to do something different, and after buying a simple dress she decided to alter it herself as part of the shoot. Scissors, glitter and metallic spray paint all played a role, and I have to say I think I actually prefer the dress afterwards! How about you?
A Vintage Shoot with Lucy Ledger Designs
August 23, 2010
If you're a regular reader of Rock n Roll Bride I'm sure you'll already be aware of the amazing Emma Case (she shot the image that I'm currently using as my blog header/my 'Punk Rock n Roll Bride' shoot) and Lucy Ledger Designs. Lucy makes gorgeously creative vintage-inspired stationary (I've also been lucky enough to feature her before as well as meet her in actual real life!) After Lucy saw Emma's work on Rock n Roll Bride she got in touch asking if they could get together to do a promotional shoot for her vintage stationary company. Hello!? Match made in vintage Rock n Roll heaven or what!?
A Touch of Drama
March 26, 2010
There's nothing more dramatic than a coloured bridal gown and this amazing 'Rock my Dress' bridal shoot by Yorkshire based photographer Mark Tierney certainly proves this point. I feel inspired just looking at these!
Åsa & Daniel’s Vintage-Find, Barcelona Shoot
November 24, 2010
Åsa & Daniel's Barcelona photo shoot was all about the details, "because to me it's the little details that make the huge difference and I wanted to show them those little details" Spanish photographer Inés explained. The original theme and idea for this shoot came from Inés herself to show couples that capturing the personal details and portraits beautifully is what's super important in wedding photography - even if that means dressing up again for a post-wedding shoot - the perfect excuse if you ask me!
Raven’s Carnival Bridal Shoot
June 1, 2011
Raven wanted some carnival themed bridal portraits and so she asked William of Famous William Company to shoot them for her. "She had a blast and was all smiles even though the weather was blazing hot that day," William told me. "The carnival was located outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She wore a 1950's vintage wedding dress and for her something blue for the photos she had blue converse trainers."
