A Low Key London Wedding for just £600: Rain & Attila

I love a detail-heavy wedding as much as the next blogger, but you know what, it’s usually the unapologetically low key and budget weddings that pull at my heartstrings the most. Rain & Attila spent just £600 on their wedding and the day couldn’t have been more perfect.

“We just wanted a wedding as simple as possible, and we didn’t think it worthwhile to spend a fortune on unnecessary formalities”, wrote the bride. “The most important thing was the two of us making a life commitment to each other, and we would like to share the joy with the closest family and friends. So we opted for a civil ceremony at our local council and headed for a casual lunch and drinks session in a pub nearby. We and our 20 guests all enjoyed it very much.”

The couple got ready at home – together – had their ‘first look’ in their back garden and their portraits in Richmond Park, Their reception was held in a local pub. Rain wore two dresses, the long ceremony dress came from eBay and her short reception dress was bought from Topshop.

For the flowers, which were really the only ‘detail’, the bride took a flower arranging course so she could do the whole lot herself. She bought roses from a supermarket and arranged her bouquet and her groom’s buttonhole the morning of the wedding.

I just love it! Thank you so much to Rain & Attila and their wedding photographer  Blush and Whimsy for sharing these with us today.

I’d love to know if any of you guys are having a super simple or budget wedding? How much (or little!) are you hoping to spend? Where are you splashing and where are you saving?

  1. How is that even possible with such amazing photography, that alone is about £600, no??

Then with the registry costs, marriage license, dresses, etc…

    I’m intrigued?

Louise – unbelievably this was the photographer’s first ever wedding so im assuming she was either a friend and they just got super lucky or she only charged a teeny tiny amount. i predict big things for her though – she’s ace! of course it’s a risk going with a photographer with no experience of weddings but in this case is worked out!

i think the registry costs are about £200-300. her dress was from ebay so probably would have been super cheap and a topshop dress would be… what?… £70? its so doable! i bet they spent most of the money on the food and drink.

    inspiring no?

  3. I love this! Our wedding was also done on a tiny budget and it was the best day ever. Just goes to show you don’t need to spend a small fortune! Very jealous they managed to hire a photographer within their small budget, the photographs are gorgeous too! :)

  4. It can be done and this is exactly what we plan to do. To us the day is about celebrating our lives together and sharing that with family and friends, we have a young family and don’t have the money to spend on a wedding. We’ll get creative and hopefully have a lovely day. I love this wedding and the photographer has done a fabulous job!

This is a beautiful wedding, the photos are amazing! My friend is getting married soon and I’m a bridesmaid for her, this is just the sort of look I think she wants to achieve – simple and intimate.

I’m so glad we found this website, we saw you in my friends Rock N Roll Guide to Wedding Music book (http://www.musicroom.com/blog/music-news/the-rock-n-roll-guide-to-wedding-music-offers-an-alternative) a few days ago and we’ve already got loads of ideas for her wedding.

I’m very grateful for the fact that you’ve convinced her not to have traditional bridesmaid dresses!

  6. Kat,
Absolutely gorgeous photos. Like, stunning! They are so lucky this worked out for them, eh? I agree BIG things for this photographer from here on out! We did our wedding on a very low budget too, almost the exact same as this, then a party in the evening… and we patted ourselves on the back for having no debt…this is taking it to a whole new level though. Congratulations to the HAPPY couple!! I’d be over the moon and more…

They were extremely lucky to get a good photographer so cheap. A lot of the time you get what you pay for.

  8. Lucy from Blush and Whimsy

Hi everyone this is Lucy, the photographer from this wedding. Thank you so much for all your sweet comments, they mean a lot coming from all the cool and lovely people that look at my favourite wedding blog :) yes to answer a few questions, I am a friend of this couple and since I work as a photographer (though as Kat said it was my first wedding) I did do it for free for them as a wedding gift, it was so awesome to be able to do something like that. We got extremely lucky with the weather, I believe it was the only sunny day in that two week period so quite unbelievable, really. Otherwise the beautiful deer at Richmond Park and the outdoor pub lunch may have been just a distant dream. It was such a lovely experience and it’s so nice to get positive feedback on it! Thank you!

    Xx

  9. I was going to ask about the cheap photography, too, but I see you already answered – my cousin and her husband were lucky that way, too, and have the single most beautiful wedding photos of anyone I personally know.

Hi Kat, I love your blog but I feel like it’s a breakthrough for you to feature such a beautifully simple wedding done on a limited budget. It’s inspiring and encouraging as most ‘budget’ weddings featured on wedding blogs are £5000 upwards which can be frustrating. Thanks for reminding everybody that it is possible to have a super wedding on a reasonable amount of money

yep thats true Nicola. obviously i need people to submit their amazing budget weddings so i can feature more! im thrilled to have been sent this one. budget weddings are totally my faves to feature right now and as long as the photography is good and shows of the wedding in the best way just like this one, i’d LOVE to see and feature more.

Love this! It’s great to see another couple along the same lines as me as usually budget equals a few thousand. I’m getting married in London in January with just closest family and friends. It will also be about £600 total. One of the most expensive costs was my son and partner’s matching Batman Converse :-)

A photographer friend is doing my photos and I hope they turn out as beautiful as these.

I love, love, love this wedding. It encourages me that we can also have a beautiful day on a low budget. The brides boquet is gorgeous. We have four daughters, so spending a massive amount on one day is totally out of the question for us. It’s so much fun doing all the details yourself anyway, much more intimate.

  14. Kelly

Having just looked up the photographer … Wedding packages start from £750. Well! That’s just blown the budget.

I wonder if their rings were included in the “£600″?

There are so many costs that you just don’t think about, I don’t believe that the entire wedding cost this little.

Hey Kelly – if you read the comments you’ll see that the photographer was a friend and it was her first wedding so she did it as a gift. these guys got super lucky but yep, it really only cost them £600!

  16. Absolutely wonderful wedding – really inspiring from the point of view of a bride to be..

The Beautiful bride’s attention to detail and natural creativity shines through in the reportage, I will certainly be taking notes for my own day – Thanks for sharing!!

    Daniela xx
