Modern Day London Fairytale Wedding With Golden Luxe Edge

Jess and Paul’s wedding is a modern day London fairytale. Their autumnal celebration featured a lot of gorgeous and delicate gold elements with splashes of pink, beautifully simple single-stem bouquets, and a plethora of incredible suppliers local to Islington, where they first meet for a date night after work.

With Jess’ love of bright colours and a ‘more is more’ attitude but Paul being a true minimalist, the planning involved a lot of stylistic compromise. A lot of the original inspiration was drawn from Jess’ stunning Claire Pettibone dress and its decadent gold embroidery, and her incredible golden-lobster-adorned Kurt Geiger flats – which I’ve totally fallen in love with, FYI. Her gorgeous headpiece was actually a necklace from John Lewis which cost £15 and her my mum turned it into a headpiece by using gold wire to attach to a hairband from Claire’s Accessories!

A Glittery, Feminist & Vegan Wedding in London

Steph and Dan wanted their wedding to be a lovely relaxed day turning into a big kick-ass party later on! They broke lots of traditions (no cake cutting or first dance) and made choices to reflect their feminist outlook. They included speeches from the bride, mother of the groom and the bridesmaid, got ready together in their own apartment, had their first look together at home and walked down the aisle together. Instead of their first dance, had a Jagerbomb toast to open up the dance floor!. With 115 guests, it was the biggest round they’d ever bought!

Rather than hiring wedding cars, they both took public transport to the ceremony at Islington Town Hall. “We walked through Brockwell Park, the best park in London, to Herne Hill train station, where we got the train to Victoria before jumping on the tube to our ceremony venue,” explained Steph. “We got many well wishes from passers-by; it was beautiful. We then flagged cabs to take us to St John’s Square for our reception and my bridesmaid and the three best men were responsible for doing the same for the guests.”

Romantic, Industrial Wedding With a Homemade Pink Dress & A Last Minute Venue Change!

When it came to wedding planning, Alice and James worked on finding a middle ground between their very contrasting tastes. They wanted their wedding to celebrate their differences. They looked at colour as a way of showing their different viewpoints and the end result was a mix of a few different themes. They served vegetarian and vegan food, and they had a vegan wedding cake.

“Our tastes couldn’t be more different,” began James, “so we didn’t really go for a specific theme. Our inspiration was using our contrasting tastes to our advantage. Alice loves pinks and mauves, I love navy and greys, so we looked at showing both these viewpoints and uniting it all with a rose gold to match our engagement and wedding rings. Alice loves layers, complex details and decoration, while I am into stripped back, ‘essentials-only’ type of aesthetics. Food and music were also a huge inspiration and something we felt we HAD to get right.”
