Three months is not a timeline most people would choose for planning a wedding but Romie and Matty did exactly that. Their day, held in yacht club on the banks of the Danube in Čunovo, Slovakia, was a celebration that reflected their shared love of vintage style, music and doing things their own way.
“We’re both vintage enthusiasts”, Romie told us. “We were also inspired by modern romance, a touch of bohemianism, and elegance. Most importantly, we’ve stayed true to ourselves.”

They had a relaxed schedule which meant the day felt carefree and enjoyable from beginning to end. They skipped almost every traditional wedding custom and only decided on their processional music a few hours beforehand. They settled on Run for Your Life by SIPHO. “When the music played, we immediately got goosebumps so we knew it was the right choice,” they said.

The ceremony itself took place over the water, with guests gathered on the wooden pier as Romie walked in with her dad. “The most memorable moment was when I walked down the pier. Both Matty and I were crying and it was really sweet when the whole pier started swaying during the ceremony.”

Planning the wedding in just three months naturally brought moments of pressure, although they never saw the short engagement as a problem. “We expected there to be a lot to organise all at once, since we didn’t start planning the wedding until just three months before the big day. But no matter how long you have to plan, the most important thing is your mindset. Advice from family is often valuable, but don’t forget that you don’t need to turn your wedding into a stressful rollercoaster instead of a beautiful day. We hope our wedding is the example of how, even in tense moments full of planning and hustle, it can be done with respect and consideration for yourselves as well as your family and loved ones.”
