Heaven in a Bath Tub: WIN a Year’s Worth of Blissful Bathing with The Bathory!

Full disclaimer: I am writing this article in a towel. I just had the most amazing bath of my life, and I didn’t want to ruin that post-soak-glow by stopping to get dressed before telling you all about it!

I am a big fan of a bath. I really started having them because the shower in our house is completely rubbish, but now I really look forward to my daily splash. Working from home, it’s way too easy to go for days without properly getting clean (gross but true). In fact I usually start working in the morning without so much as brushing my teeth (again, gross but true) so come around 3 or 4pm I am in desperate need of cleansing!

It took me approximately 2.5 seconds to place an order with The Bathory when I discovered them online. Why? Because you get to create your very own customised bath soak! That is the kind of thing I love

The idea is simple, yet completely genius. First you select what kind of bath you’d like from one of three bases – bask, soothe or detox. Then you add your own blend of up to three essential oils. You can choose them so they evoke a certain feeling (relaxed, revived, happy, sexy, confident, focused, inspired) or just go wild and pick your favourites. The scents aren’t too overpowering on their own either so there’s no need to worry about choosing a weird combination and it not working.

I chose the detox base which is made from pure Espom salts and Rhassoul clay and is designed to draw out toxins. I decided I wanted something reviving for my mid-afternoon pick me up so I selected eucalyptus, grapefruit and rosemary as my oils.

And ooh la la, it was glorious. So glorious in fact that as soon as I’m finished writing this I’m off to order another. I think I might go for the way to delicious sounding soothe (with hydrating oatmeal, honey and buttermilk!) base next.

The Bathory claim to deliver the best bath of your life, and you know what, I actually think they just might.

WIN 12 Bathory Bath Soaks!

Well I spoke to Laura, the genius behind all this amazingness, and she’s offered the fantastic prize of TWELVE bath soaks which one of you beauties will win. 1. I lo e to relax by having a nice long hot soak in the bath with music in the background and a random clay mask on.

  2. Natasha

Perfect way to relax is a bath with my favorite book and nick cave softly playing in the back ground. Occasionally i throw in Marc De Champagne chocolates and a belgian chocolate baileys from a teacup!

  3. My favourite way to relax is with a cocktail.
Whether its in the bath, on the deck, sitting at the kitchen counter being cooked for, if there’s a delicious fruity cocktail involved I am a happy woman!

  4. A deep, hot bubble bath with glossy mag followed by double episode of Gilnore Girls downstairs with a cuppa+slice of buttery toast. The ultimate indulgence for me when I get the house to myself 🙂

  5. I had to laugh at the not brushing the teeth thing because it happens to me all the time! Ahh, the joys of working at home.

As for relaxation…reading a book on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Bliss.

  6. Dina

My favorite way to relax is listening to soundtrack of Le Fabulous Destin de Amelie Poulin whilst sipping to glass of good red wine and cooking and coming up with wonderful recepies in the kitchen.

  7. I’ve recently come back to loving baths after discovering a way of propping my iPad up and watching (seriously trashy) TV while having a good old soak – seriously been missing a trick! Of course, a glass of champagne is optional but always welcomed! 😉

  8. I think the best way to relax is a good chat with a friend. Be it over a coffee or over the phone, the mix of laughter, discussing hopes and dreams and supporting each other through the tough stuff is so the best medicine.

  9. I would say pamper nights, especially if they include very long face and hair masks. I find it incredibly relaxing.
But truth is the most relaxing days for me are those when I know all my work is done and I can just stay in bed and watch Disney films, possibly singing along and nomming on oreo ice cream sandwiches.

  10. My perfect way to relax is having a full make over :-)! Starting with a warm bubbly bath, followed by having perfectly styled hair and glam nails! I love the feeling after having a make over, for me it automatically puts me in a good mood and takes away any stresses! xxx

  11. Glass of white wine, cherry pie, Twin Peaks with my cat & my boyfriend (preferably in bed), either post- or pre- bathtime. Yes please.

  12. Chantal Fisher

The best way to relax lovely hot bath, a good book and a very large G&T, and make sure the door is locked so the kids can’t bother me!!!!!

  13. Becci

Bath, PJ’s, pillow and duvet fort built on the sofa, and snuggle down infront of the TV! Beaut!

  14. Vicky

My favourite way to relax is a nice hot bubble, then on with my jimmer jammers and fluffy dressing gown. Followed by curling up on the sofa, cat purring on my lap, book in hand and pot of tea to my side to pour out numerous cups while I enjoy the peace and quiet.

  15. Relax? I dont even know what that is anymore! Looking after my mum, kid bro and sis aswell as my own lively 6 year old, a bath is a luxury! Haha one can dream though 😉 I do chill at night watching a wee dvd boxset with a wee treat to munch on 🙂

  16. Kayleigh James-Westwood

One of my favourite ways to relax is to take the dog out for a long walk (preferably) in the sunshine.
Stop for an ice cream on the way back and spend the rest of the afternoon with a pot of tea, biscuits and my husband, dog and me having a cozy up on the couch!
    Wonderful days.

  17. Laura-Beth Cowles

My favourite way to relax after a hard, long day standing on my feet all day at work, is to soak in a long, hot bath with a big cup of tea and some chocolate whilst reading a novel. Then to wrap myself up in a big, warm, fluffy towel whilst massaging my poor achey feet with lotion! Bliss!

  18. Tess Wilson

Daytime sleeping on the rare occasion I can manage it…! Turning the phone off, getting horizontal and daydreaming about my future dreams (involving a Johnny Depp type figure, me looking killer and generally being amazing)… Then drifting off to this land of heaven for a naughty 40 winks.

  19. Marney

Best was to relax; tea in my fave New York mug, a few stretches and then a soak in the tub with some lavender…

  20. Marney

Best was to relax; tea in my fave New York mug, a few stretches and then a soak in the tub with some lavender…

  21. Cuddles with my crazy soppy spaniel, followed by a glorious hot soak in my roll top bath watching Jack Bauer on my ipad and a glass of baileys! Then snug in with my favourite hoody, pjs and fluffy socks!! Love it!

  22. Katie

Having a hot bath and watching a girly movie (Pride and Prejudice, Clueless etc.) Love it!

  23. Mabel

My favourite way to relax is lying on the sofa, with my head in my fiancee’s lap, and him playing with my hair. It’s complete bliss.

  24. Jess

Fave way to relax is to snuggle up in bed with my cat and a cup of tea and watching uplifting & happy anime series

  25. Sabrina

My favourite way to relax – mad as it sounds – is a full on kickboxing session! An hour of pounding the bags followed by a hot shower/or bubble bath is my favourite way of chilling out and feeling AMAZING. Boom!

  26. My favorite way of relaxing is with a glass of whiskey and cola or wine while I soak in the bath. I put on Bon Iver or Ray LaMontagne, lock the door, and slide deep into the steaming water. This has become almost a daily routine at the end of every day, and totally saves my sanity as a single mom and business owner.

  27. Sarah

As a carer I can often come home tired with aching muscles. After a good old shout/sing in the car in the drive home I find a red hot bath is usually the key to feel relaxed, followed by a snuggle in front of the TV with my other half before bed. Perfect 😀

  28. Kelly-Anne

Hot bath, steam, a great smelling bath soak or oils, Sade on the ipod, very low lights (almost dark, glass of prosecco, soft warm towels waiting for after. Sleepy just thinking about it!

  29. joanne mccarthy

I pour my self a large wine, brim full bath of roasting hot water and light all the candles I can get my hands on, before dropping in a lemon scented cupcake bomb. With my Tablet all set up on the reruns of fresh Prince or an old episode of DTTB, I dip my toes in before sinking in and not leaving until I resemble an old shriveled prune 🙂 heaven!

  30. Apart from a hot bath the other way I totally relax is in the sun, so find a pool of sunlight, a great book, some music, a cold glass of rose and a large bar of chocolate …….. oh yes!

  31. Maggie Ross

A bubble bath & a book. Pure heaven for me. Having some time alone to some out & relax.

  32. Libby

I love to lay around with the cat and a cocktail. He always puts me to sleep. My little heater.

  33. I like to take 5mins to sit down with a cup of tea and do nothing. Just chill out and forget all the jobs I have on my to do list.

  34. Linds

The perfect relaxing evening would start with reading a book in the garden on a warm evening followed by a lovely soothing bath and getting into a freshly made bed with crisp, clean sheets. Aaaaaaah. Perfect.

  35. meg

Kid’s in bed, h2b merrily playing fifa,me curled up in big corner sofa with a huge mug of hot chocolate with cream and marshmellows on top, a fluffy blanket and one of the game of thrones books…

  36. For me, the ultimate relaxation involves some actual prep. First I wash my bedding in my fav fabric softener and then hang it out to dry (this is very important as drying the sheets inside does not lead to near as much relaxation. FACT.) I then make up the bed whilst my bath is running *cough* make my fiance make up the bed *cough*. Light some candles for appropriate ambience. Then it’s time to soak in the tub with my kindle/magazine/DVD on the laptop which is balanced on the toilet lid. Stew for an hour or so. Then come out the bath put on clean jammies (which have also been drying outside) and slip under the covers into the freshly made bed.

Cue ultimate “ahhhh” followed swiftly by the deepest sleep I’ve had in a while 🙂 xxx

  37. Janine

my favourite way to relax is first to have a full on day at work, then exercise and gym after. and once im home a relaxing bubble bath with chocolate and (control of the remote) trash tv! 😀

  38. Nemmer

Yoga completely winds me down. I honestly don’t know how (I have suspicions that the yoga lady uses relaxants in the air!) but I practically float home afterwards.

If yoga isn’t on, then It has to be a Lush bath. Comforter and a face mask (called fez masks input house :p) and a nice whop off brew. If I’m feeling naughty, it might be a glass of something sweet.

Pop on some music and try not to drown ^^*

  39. I like to relax by cooking or baking something. There’s something therapeutic about chopping, stirring ingredients together, waiting for sauces to thicken or for chocolate to melt and putting it all together to create something delicious. Then the rush I get when someone says they like what I’ve eaten stops me being quite so stressed.

  40. Liz Steichen

My way to relax is flying and shooting, then arriving home to a hot soak In the tub. Such stress release. This prize will provide such wonders to the winner. Good luck to all!

  41. Pippa

wow customisable bath sounds great- i often do that myself and make a kind of bath potion with odds and ends in my bathroom (I’m not the only one who never grew out of that sort of thing right?)
my favourite way to relax is probably to go to a pretty spot outside (weather permitting) and lose myself in a good book x

  42. Aimee

My favourite way to relax is floating a beautifully hot, deep bath which envelopes me in bubbles, the room lit up by nothing but candlelight, and some of my favourite music playing softly whilst I soak. Closed eyes, exhale, complete relaxation, bliss. <3

  43. Emily orwin

A bath with candles, plinky plonky music and a glass of red … And fingers crossed my baby stays asleep for long enough to get all wrinkly <3

  44. Carly Alderson

My favourite way to relax is by picking up a really good book and finding somewhere quiet to read forever! My favourite place at the moment is in front of the fireplace in my new house, but my first bathtub ever could be an excellent competitor!

  45. Siobhan Murphy

The ultimate relaxing has to be sticking my nose in a book whilst being wrapped up in a blanket drinking a cuppa and listening to the rain pouring down outside. Heaven.

  46. Terri Kennedy

Ilike to chill out with my lil ladies by playing in the garden perhaps a game of hopscotch or two then we make awsome afternoon tea with little heart shaped sambos and some pink lemonade! We do have the occaisional duvet day but rather than relax me I think of all the things I should be doing I then get the fear and duvet day suddenly turns into list day!

  47. keeley

I always enjoyed a long hot bath but ever since having my son I have a whole new appreciation for it as its the only time I ever get to myself these days. I stock up on my ultimate bath kit – Bath Pillow, Ipad, wine and usually a tub of ice cream if I feel adventurous! Pour at least half a bottle of bubble bath in and make sure its piping hot and stay there for a minimum of 1 hour! Find a programme to watch, read a book, or just lay there thinking about how peaceful it is. Its nice to switch off from mummy mode just for that little while!, even if I do look like an extremely relaxed prune by the time I emerge! xx

  48. Ella Duran

My favourite way to relax is with a nice cuppa in a chintzy teacup, on the sofa, with my new baby (Teddy Albie Bear Duran) sleeping on my chest, whilst trawling through the world of wedding & fashion blogs. Starting, of course, with Rock ‘n Roll Bride. My go to for daily inspiration.
