Katie & Olivia’s Natural Beauty

January 26, 2011

Today’s first feature actually isn’t wedding-related at all, but I just loved it so much that I had to blog it anyway. Sisters Katie & Olivia’s shoot took place at the home of photographer, and friend of their family, Lee Anne Havens of Flower Child Photography. The idea for the shoot was inspired by the girls’ natural beauty and a desire from Lee Anne to create something unique.

“It took me a long time to decide how and where to do this shoot, and in the end I settled on just doing everything at my home studio and made some crazy “costumes” for them,” explained Lee Anne.

“We played dress-up during the entire shoot. At one point Olivia spotted a basket of hats I made the hats last winter during my knitting craze so we had to use them, of course. (I’ve also made some for a charity drive, see info at the end of the post). Their tutu’s were handmade by me, the tops were purchased second hand for about $5 each and the jewellery is mine. So are the sweaters and plaid tops towards the end of the post – I just kept digging through my closet because I didn’t want the shoot to end!”

“The girls have never modelled before and were absolute naturals. I really didn’t do much posing for the most part, I would just catch them doing their own thing and ask them to hold the poses. The pics were taken using available light, sort of my signature look. This was also my first creative shoot, something to do for myself for once!”

Love it! Thanks to Lee Anne for sharing her wonderful images with us today
