Wedding Day/Day After Shoot

Quirky & Creative

Kat

October 1, 2009

Tyson & Courtney are a quirky and creative couple and so what else would be perfect for their wedding than what full of quirks and creating! The event took place at the house and yards of The Dana Powers House in Nipomo, where the couple made the day their own with all the personal touches. Thanks to the lovely Beth for sharing these with me and yes I am waiting to hear who made the dress right now! Fret not... Credit: Bath Armsheimer Photography

I'm taking a break from less pretty stuff to share this gorgeous session by Cathy Empey. Cathy attended a photography workshop held by Jessica Claire and took these a-a-amazing images whist she was there. The details are of course fabulous (check out that super duper cute newspaper decorated cake & cake topper!) but her perspective is what really drew me in to these...stunning. Made To Measure

Kat

September 30, 2009

Evita & Micheal had a very uniquely styled wedding and 'day after shoot' (which actually took place 4 months after the wedding but who's counting?) The whole glorious wedding is featured in the Fall issue of Weddings Unveiled Magazine (and will be on their blog, Completely Unveiled, later this week) but I was over the moon when Evita asked if I would like to share their American Gothic style photo shoot too. I fell in love with the fashion. Her fabulous dress, made from a slightly altered vintage Vogue Pattern (8416) with silk from Clarence House even had a matching corset which she wore underneath! Her feather hat was from Frock of Ages and those amazing customised shoes by Andrew Geller, originally from Stefan's Vintage Clothing and quite frankly to die for. Evita explained: I had them resoled at Peter & Sons in South Windermere shopping center. Insoles and toe embellishments done by me. Sterling acorn brooches were purchased on eBay. Swarovski hot fix rhinestones are olivine Thanks to Evita & Michael for sharing their shoot and details with us. I can not wait to see the whole wedding in Weddings Unveiled Magazine soon! Lisa & Geoff are awesome. So awesome in fact that my friends over at 100 Layer Cake also realised their awesomeness and have blogged their entire wedding over on their site today. Right here though I'm all about their amazing day after shoot at The California State Fair. I'm pretty sure the fairground photo shoot sinario is one I'm not going to tire of easily - so much colour and fun! Thanks to the lovely Sarah for sending these in and thanks to Jillian over at 100 Layer Cake for working with me on this feature - be sure to go check out their post asap! Favourite Spots

Kate & Jeff got married in Hawaii, but living in San Francisco, they wanted to do a fun post wedding shoot wearing their wedding outfitsin muir woods as well as some shots in their favourite areas of the city. The groom wore a suit by H&M and the bride looks awesome in her dress from Milly Bridal and her fascinator from Twigs & Honey. They got their cake topper from Etsy seller Goosegrease (I had to include an image - so cute!) and their ring bowl from Paloma's Nest(I never tire of seeing these.) I hope you enjoy these, I loooove them. A huge thanks to Joanne & Johnathan for sending... Credit: Encarnacion Photography

Smilebooth

Kat

September 16, 2009

A photo booth at a wedding is pretty much guaranteed to result in some pretty fab photographs, but a smilebooth by Our Labor of Love takes the idea to a whole other dimension. These guys are probably one of the first photographers I remember seeing doing the quirky, props-led style photo booth and I'm sure like me you've seen many others follow suit since. This set has got to be one of my favourite's ever - Stephanie & Wil are such a awesome couple and fun guests who were clearly up for it! Thanks so much to the wonderful Whitney & Jesse for allowing me to share these with you all! Credit: Our Labor of Love

Kat

September 11, 2009

I have featured the work of Marina from Red Heart Photography a number of times recently, every time she sends me something I am stopped in my tracks! Christina & Justin had a personal ceremony in Kona (it was just the two of them - you can't get more intimate that that!) and then followed it up with an amazing photo session with the lovely Marina. She wore amazing red shoes. He wore kick ass snakeskin boots. I looked at these and melted. Marina I heart you..thanks for the sharing! Credit: Red Heart Photography

Wai-Ching Bride

Kat

September 10, 2009

Evan & Angela's wedding was at the Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria, BC. They had an intimate event with just 20 or 30 guests within their own bridal penthouse suite with an antique/bird theme. They set up a typewriter to be used a vintage style guest book, birdcages around the room and old-time candy for goodie-bag favours. They are both photographers as well so there were antique cameras scattered about as well as lots of shots taken with Evan's old Polaroid Land Camera. Angela's veil was handmade by an artist in Portland, OR and her dress was designed by local Seattle designer Chrissy Wai-Ching. It's a pretty damn amazing dress huh?

The Shoot That Almost Never Was

Kat

September 9, 2009

Suzy & Gerard actually got married in 2005 but still wanted a day (years!?) after shoot with the amazingly talented Megan Welker- well who wouldn't! They almost had a disaster with the dress however as after Suzy got it back from the cleaners she discovered they had taken out all of the puckers making those stunning billowy pleats,OMG cricis!! Luckilythey knew a fabulous seamstress who painstakingly put them all back in for the shoot. It almost never happened and that would have been a travesty! Thanks to Megan for allowing me to share. Glam Rock

Kat

September 8, 2009

Aww pretty pretty sparkle dress! Faith sure looks rock n roll glam on her wedding day back in April! It's not only the dress that I love - her faux tats are super cute and the peacock feathers instead of a traditional floral bouquet are of course stunning. Her one of a kind, custom dress was designed and made by Marelize from Gingered in South Africa. The gown was based on Jenny Packham's Papillon dress, but being in South Africa getting hold of the origianl proved too difficult so Faith decided to get her own version made. Marelize even spent over 45 hours hand sewing on all the beads on the bodice - wow...Glam rock on! Thanks to Faith for not only sending me her images but for sharing all this fab info - a true Rock n Roll Bride!

We’re The Theme!

Kat

September 2, 2009

Amy & Jody certainly didn’t want a traditional wedding and went all out to show their individuality though their big day. As Amy told me, ‘We never wanted a conventional wedding. We wanted a mishmash of our favourite things and hoped it would all work out. Who needs a theme? We’re the theme!’ The couple had an intimate wedding with close family at Islington town hall which was followed by a massive party at The Distillers Bar. It was the small touches that made this day fabulous - whether that being the ice-cream van (free 99s all round!) the Cuban band or the tower of cupcakes and free flowing drinks that scream of British summer like Pimms. Amy’s outfit was a vintage-inspired look at high street prices. The tea-length dress was by Aftershock, her adorable shoes were from Clarks and fascinator/veil was found in Topshop! The bag and jewellery were all real vintage finds and her best friend's mum made her bolero. I love Jody’s loom so much! Sometimes the Grooms tend to let the team down (here in the UK anyway!) with slightly boring suits or unimaginative fashion choices, but not this Groom! He bought a vintage suit, shirt and cravat from J Simons in Covent Garden. The trainers have got to be my favourite part of his look. When on holiday in Vietnam, he asked a shoe maker to make him a pair of Adidas Hi-Tops out of embroidered silk, not realising the guy would actually agree. Photographer David said he loved having two pairs of gorgeous shoes to shoot! Thanks to Amy & Jody for sharing their day and to David for sending me the gorgeous images! Love Story

Kat

August 28, 2009

With a wedding that took place in a public library (Boston to be exact) what better than copies of 'Pride & Prejudice'' as favours and a passion in their portraits that could rival the greatest love stories. The backdrop provided almost a gothic feel to the images - the shadows; the low, moody lighting and the colours of the old books - all give such a romantic feel of history and grandeur. Thanks to Lauren for sharing these. Credit: Person + Killian Photography

Awesome Locations

Kat

August 25, 2009

Chad & Erin of Fuller Edge always choose the most awesome locations for their shoots. With Angel & Craig, who rocked their wedding with skull cufflinks, converse trainers, a pink wedding dress and adorable pink and green details (clicky here for the full set), Chad & Erin took them to a junkyard for these fab shots. I am loving the use of water and the texture in every single image. Wonderful! Thanks to Chad & Erin for sending these to me. I always adore their work! Credit: Fuller Edge Photography
