Ryan and Lucy eloped in August on a black sand beach in Iceland. Ryan actually only officially proposed three days earlier! "We had visited Iceland back in March", Lucy explained. "Many friends said they were expecting us to come back engaged. However, once we returned Ryan had confessed to having investigated the possibility of us getting married whilst we were there, but there hadn't been enough time before we went for this to happen. Evie and Mac focused on creating a day that reflected their shared love of paganism, nature, and community. On September 7th, surrounded by just 42 of their closest family and friends, they were married at the church in the Lost Village of Dode, a historic site which is 900 years old (and was abandoned over 600 years ago!) The couple drew inspiration from its medieval architecture and pagan history to craft a celebration that blended old-world traditions with their own personal touch.

Getting engaged is the most exciting time. What’s less exciting is when you actually start planning the wedding and realise you might need to remortgage your house to pay for the damn thing. It’s no secret that weddings are expensive. No matter the size or style, they’re a luxury - and luxuries always come with a hefty price tag. It’s not that there are vendors lurking in the shadows waiting to rip you off. It’s just that this shit is expensive. It just is.

Maximalism is finally having its moment in weddings, and nowhere is this more apparent than with flowers. Couples aren’t interested in shrinking themselves into tradition anymore. They want colour, attitude, drama and a bit of glorious chaos. Florals are the fastest way to take a blank space and turn it into something loud, expressive and unmistakably you. And with online flowers services making big ideas easier than ever to pull off, maximalist wedding florals have officially gone from “maybe one day” to “add to basket”.

So, let me don my bonnet and ready my carriage… because I’m about to set off with you… into the land of obstinate, headstrong girls…

Sure Thing Chapel (and their second location, Sure Thing Too) in Las Vegas has become somewhat of a pilgrimage spot for alt couples who want a kitsch, quirky Vegas wedding. We see a lot of weddings in this space. We’ve featured weddings with rhinestones, leather, Hellvis, pink suits, black veils and every combination possible. Then Zuza and Marcin walked in and the way Tree of Life Films & Photos captured them almost shifted the room into something new. We are totally obsessed with these photos and we think you will be too.

Electric Sugar Elopements

Aimee and Jon left Birmingham to get married in the Nevada desert. The bride loved the idea of Vegas, the groom wanted something outdoors or in the mountains, so as soon as they found out about the little chapel at Eldorado Canyon, they knew it would be the best of both worlds. Eldorado Canyon gave them the intimacy they wanted, but they still ended the day in true Vegas fashion. After the ceremony they changed outfits and headed to the Strip and Downtown to celebrate.

Becky and Ran refused to hand their wedding over to anyone else’s version of “how it should be”. The bride knew she wanted to wear black, DIY as much as possible and to not spend a fortune on the things they didn't care about. Almost everything was made by them or by the people who know them best. The décor, the flowers and the stationery were all put together by the couple, and the cake was a sheet cake from Costo which cost just £15!

November 27, 2025

Kaley and Philip built their Tennessee wedding around the idea of something that felt Southern and gothic with Addams Family undertones. The bride had always pictured an autumn or winter celebration with deep colours, heavy foliage and romantic gothic styling. However, the date ended up being June because it marked the start of their relationship. They didn’t shift the aesthetic to match the season though - they held on to the mood that felt right for them.

November 25, 2025

When Nosferatu flickered back onto cinema screens, Lauren from Nick and Lauren Photography left the theatre feeling inspired by the film’s shadowy beauty. “I was inspired by the cinematography used in the movie, and wanted to do a wedding shoot that emulated that same aesthetic, but without being vampire based,” she told us. “We decided to combine the elements of country meets alternative, and started joking about what Nosferatu's wedding would look like if it were in the West. Everything snowballed from there!”

This wedding shoot was a riot of neon lights. Born inside the restless brain of Brooke Conaway, founder of CAT HAUS Collective, she wanted to create something that was the opposite of boring and beige. With a Lady Gaga lookalike bride, she built this shoot as an act of rebellion - against conformity, perfectionism, and the wedding industry’s obsession with fitting in. “I’m not a traditional wedding planner,” she said. “I have ADHD, I’m plus sized, an advocate for LGBTQA+ and someone who has had to fight to ‘fit in’ including how to work with my chaos brain, not against it.”

This ‘Goth Glam’ Shoot Is Proof That Weird Is the New Luxury

Kat

Stag & Bird

October 29, 2025

This shoot, dubbed Goth Glam by everyone involved, was created out of a need to shake things up. The team wanted to bring together Kansas City’s weirdest, boldest, and most unapologetic creatives and make something that proved “high-end” doesn’t have to mean beige. They called it a love letter to the alt-lux side of weddings: velvet and smoke, drama and decadence, edge and elegance. The goal was to show that goth, glam, and alternative can sit right alongside luxury, without losing the grit.
