This beautiful shoot with an eco hippy vibe tugs at my heart strings. Isn’t it just beautiful!? I die over the summery details – the coloured glass, the cute props (owls for the win!), the yummy confectionery and the stunning florals.
Photographer Nikita Gross used digital, Holga and Polaroid photography to capture the whimsical and retro vibe of these shoot…and I’d say she’s done that perfectly! “We used tons of yellows and greens to keep with the natural vibe,” she explains. “All of the decor was found at local thrift stores. Earlier this year myself and Jen Pritchard of Your Wedding by Jen created Cincinnati’s first Alternative wedding Expo, Love+Bash . This is one of the table concepts from the show.”
Now excuse me, I’m off to lie in the sunshine and dream of this photo shoot…
Thanks to Nikita and the whole team for sharing this beautiful set with us today.

This hippy-esque countryside shoot was set up by wedding photographer Camilla Rosa. who really wanted to shoot an emotional set that perfectly reflected the couple in it. Jesse and Charlie live in a hut on the banks of a river with no electricity, sing in a band, home made pretty much everything and only wear charity shop or home made clothes - so her idea was perfect for them!

The Quirky

When it comes to me accepting submissions to feature on this blog, I always ask myself the same two simple questions: Will my readers like this? And are there ideas in here that people can actually apply to their own weddings? More and more these days, I'm only able to answer yes to both these questions with the real weddings I'm sent. However sometimes, just sometimes, a styled wedding shoot fits the bill as well.

Surprise Pool Party Wedding Recreation

Oh I love a surprise wedding! And a surprise wedding + pool party!? EPIC!
But this wasn't actually a real wedding (sad face) although it was set up as a recreation of the actual wedding of some friends of the photographer who were married 30 years ago. Jessie & Kenny had this actual wedding, in this exact same spot in 1982 (some of their wedding photos are at the end of the gallery - how amazing are they?!) So to celebrate, and to have an their anniversary party with a difference, they decided to relive the whole thing. This is a styled shoot with a difference and, yes, they really had the big party afterwards!

Hippy Luxe at The Photography Farm

As the fourth Photography Farm drew near Lisa and I sat down with Hannah, stylist extraordinaire, to plan the shoots. I always look forward to this epic 3-day wedding photographers workshop as I know I'll learn new things, make new friends and have a hell of a good time in the process. We do two styled shoots on the first day, but the second, a bridal shoot, is always the most exciting and experimental. I'm so excited to come up with a new concept and work with the Farm dream team to make it a reality.

Sarah Gormley
February 22, 2013
This shoot, inspired by both vintage and vinyl elements was pulled together by wedding photographer Sarah Gomley. "I wanted to create a wedding shoot that would be relevant for passionate musicians on a tight wedding budget, so this vintage vinyl shoot features an array of DIY touches", she writes. "For a guest book, we used silver sharpie pens on vinyl records, framed to make hangable mementos for the happy couple. We also took small black-rimmed DVDs and printed stickers for their center to make handmade vinyl-themed table number signs. As decoration for the bride and groom, we hung 3x3 black and white photos on an all-black clothesline."

Twisty Tree Roots on the Banks of a River

"This project, the visual telling of love and passion, was inspired by late nights, acoustic guitars, and solo vocalists", writes wedding photographer Kelsea of Simplee Photography. "It is a collection inspired by all the things that I love, things that are beautifully interesting... details stripped down into elements."
On the banks of a river, where twisty tree roots meets an Autumnal glow, Kelsea found her perfect location. Wanting to shoot something simple, natural and organic, she selected a vintage dress, feather earrings, masks from Russia and bits and pieces from here, there and everywhere.

A Recycled Wedding Fashion Shoot at Paramount Ranch
Kat
August 3, 2011
"The concept of this photo shoot was 'eco friendly + recycled wedding fashion for modern brides'," photographer Yuna Leonard writes. " Both of the dresses and the boots in this set were found at American Vintage store on Melrose, Los Angeles. I love that store!! I was in love with the ideas of recycling and reusing wedding fashion from days gone by - maybe from brides who were in your Mother's or Grandmother's generations. The dresses I bought were also very inexpensive { from $70 - $ 100. The boots were $50.} We fused this style with an idea for outdoor / backyard styled reception fashion as well. The mixed style of vintage + bohemian + western totally got me this time! Hope you enjoy it!"

As a girl who's more than slightly obsessed with weddings and photography, there's pretty much nothing more thrilling to me than discovering new (to me) wedding photographer that is INCREDIBLE. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does I feel like I've won the wedding-blogging-lottery. And don't even get me started on what happens when I discover a videographer with as much talent as this. Actual tears people, there were actual tears.
