Kara and Ed’s Melbourne wedding was stitched together by their own hands. Every detail was pulled from their own creativity and a desire to create a day with retro heart and style. The bride made her veil, customised her shoes, and sewed velvet banners with their favourite love song lyrics on them. She even turned fake jellies into glowing centrepieces. They picked their own flowers on a farm, cooked the food themselves, and designed the whole thing around a bold pink and red palette with splashes of green.

Jodie and Billy’s wedding wasn’t their first. Back in 2011, before same-sex marriage was legal in Australia, they held a commitment ceremony. They tried to make it traditional, but later realised most of it hadn’t felt right. After eight years apart to figure out who they both were, they reconnected and wanted to marry again - this time with the same rights as straight couples. The venue for Summer and Iby's wedding, Smoked Garage, is an old motorcycle repair shop tucked away in the heart of Brisbane. It still houses bikes between the furniture, so it was a truly fitting setting for a car-loving groom and an artist bride. “We wanted something colourful, unique and a little bit vintage,” Summer told us. “Smoked Garage suited our style perfectly and let us and our guests relax – nothing too fancy.”

Jaymin and Sean decided to elope in their hometown of Perth, Australia, before heading to Europe for five weeks of travelling and going to rave festivals! They got hitched on a weeknight in their favourite local park, with their rescue greyhound, Moni, and just three witnesses. Afterwards, they popped into the city with their photographer where they basically recreated their first date - heading to an old school Miami style bar, to the arcades to play the first game they played together, then for ice cream just after sunset. They then met up with their mates again for dinner!

When filmmaker Alexandra Preisz got engaged to visual artist Jaime, she decided to document the entire planning process on TikTok, especially when it came to her dress. Her series quickly went viral, with the bride-to-be sharing every step of the design, fabric sourcing and fitting process with her followers. While she initially envisioned reworking a vintage gown, she wasn't able to find thew sort of thing she wanted, so with the help of her stylist friend Fleur Egan and couturier Olivia Deur, she set about creating something entirely original instead.
