There are so many reasons why I love Ariane and Nikki’s wedding. The setting, their outfits, the laidback-ness… the whole thing just made me feel happy as I wandered through their gorgeous photos. The day started with a small ceremony at City Hall in Deurne and ended with an epic reception at Mirror Tent in Rijkevorsel, Belgium.

“We came up with the wedding theme from one of our favourite songs (which we also sang together at the wedding)  Onderweg by Pieter Embrechts”, explained the bride. “It’s a great song about a couple who jump into a car, not knowing where the road will take them, but they’re together and that’s all that matters. We realised that it described our relationship best. Even now we still have our most important conversations in the car, driving from one spot to another. We do a lot of road trips too or take trips with our caravan. it’s also the reason why we did the family pictures in front of our caravan.”

“The reason our wedding day was so relaxed was because we planned the big day carefully, leaving enough time between each thing we had to do so we didn’t have to rush anything. After the ceremony we went back to my parents’ house to chill out, eat and have photos taken before the reception started in the evening, for example. We also gave ourselves the whole day before the wedding off!”

“Our reception venue was our biggest expense but it was worth it!” she continued. “It was about 1/4 of the budget and although we thought about it for a long time, we’re so glad we chose that special venue. It added so much to the atmosphere of the party. We wanted a lot of dancing, not a room full of long tables, and this venue was perfect for that! In fact one of our guests even called up their own wedding venue that night, cancelled it and booked ours for their big day!”

The couple saved money with the catering. They decided not to have a sit down meal, but opted for a delicious dessert buffet instead. “I’m a very big fan of desserts, so it made sense to only do a dessert buffet”, she said. “At midnight we served had good old Belgian fries!”
