So after we left Vana & Damien yesterday, David (hard working as ever) headed off to London’s Southwark for a fabulously moody pre-wedding shoot! The rain may have been pouring, but David was able to capture the couple and their most glorious…and I have to say, the rain water on the ground does make for some amazing light.
After a pretty dismal day, some sun made it through the clouds, before clouding over and pouring with rain as we started the shoot.
However, I’m never one to be defeated, so after we arrived in Southwark I found a rather interesting empty car park, a rough round the edges theatre bar, a nicely lit railway tunnel and grimy door to use as backdrops.
I usually reschedule if the weather looks bad, but as you can see from tonight’s shoot, a bit of rain doesn’t mean the images have to suffer!

I just got back from meeting out wedding photography competition winners with my friend and photographer David McNeil. Vana & Damien are even cooler in real life than they are on paper. We got on like a house on fire and spent about 2 hours chatting non-stop!
I knew Vana and I would get on as we have chatted on the phone a number of times (for like an hour at a time…we’re both big chatterboxes apparently!) but it was great to meet them both and to see how excited they are about their upcoming wedding. The couple have some amazing, unique and totally rock n roll (Damien is in a band after all) ideas and I can’t wait to see them all in November.
So…my next task, my wedding outfit! To hat or not to hat?
We will be meeting the couple again in the next couple of months for their pre-wedding shoot, hopefully including some shots in the S&M Cafe! Didn’t I tell you they were bloody cool?
Here we all are drinking wine in the middle of the day and chatting all things wedding, and the photo of David – I took that..I’m pretty sure I’ve missed my calling!
ps if you want to still enter the contest to win the gorgeous little diamond necklace, you have one day left. Contest will be closing midnight tomorrow and I will be drawing the winner on Sunday..so get your nominations in if you want to be in with a chance!

OK I am officially blown away by this couple and this wedding. It bright and it’s fun and it looks like a wedding I would have loved to be at!
Nicola & Ben got hitched at Tithe Barn, Hampshire and did as much DIY as was feasible. This included all the invites, the favours, the decorations (yes, Martha Pom Poms… all 450 of them!), the table plan, the order of the day booklets…
It was well worth the extra effort when we saw all our hard work come together on the day
and I have to agree – the result is quite frankly spectacular, gorgeous and inspiring,. Plus I am sooo jealous of Nicola’s amazing Candy Anthony dress & petticoat (and her veil which she made herself for the grand total of £1.50!)
The couple also had a cine film wedding video that I can’t wait to see (and share with you of course) when they get it back.
