Rustic, Celtic Inspired Italian Woodland Wedding

For their May wedding day, highschool sweethearts Lorenzo and Erica wanted to celebrate their love in nature, surrounded by their closest friends and family. “In Italy, there really isn’t much outside of the norm for weddings,” Erica told us. “Even if they’re not religious, most people get married in a church for traditions’ sake, which didn’t suit us at all.”

Their wedding theme was very much inspired by Celtic traditions instead of religious ones. From celebrating everything in nature to hand fasting, jumping the broom and drinking hydromel from a shared chalice, the couple based their choices on keeping everything as simple as possible, but with an eye to celebrating the beautiful, too. They paired blue, bordeaux and blush for an ethereal colour palette and used apples as a symbol throughout – writing Norse Gods’ names on them for table names and choosing crockery with apple motifs.

Colourful Woodland Wedding with Dominos and the Notorious B.I.G

Katy and Mark are my new best friends. No, but in all seriousness, their wedding looks like SO MUCH FUN and I think you’re going to fall in love with them instantly. With a loose theme of colour and fun, a focus on it being a carbfest (we’re talking fish and chips for and then Dominos later on) and eclectic and wonderful decor, it’s a super beautiful and inspiring day by all accounts.

“We didn’t necessarily have a set theme,” Katy says, “but I guess if I were to name one, it would be colour. We just did what we wanted, with no set theme or real formalities (bar the ceremony)!”

As Katy has worked in the wedding industry for most of her life, she had a head start on the planning. “I would say that it is amazing how quickly your budget/imagination can run away with you! When we first started planning we did get carried away and it started to resemble a fun fair – yes, with a waltzer and everything – but that didn’t really sit well with our budget. So we started again and stuck to what we needed and what we wanted it to be about: Our close friends and family and food, of course –  lots of carbs! It was a total carb fest!” They ordered yummy finger food from M&S, had a fish and chip van for their main food and ordered Dominos pizza for their evening buffet.

Dark Romance Campsite Wedding on Friday 13th

Maysa and Lee got married on Friday 13th last year in a gorgeous intimate reception on a private campsite in Ohio that’s owned by their friends. Describing their wedding as ‘almost like they invited Jason Voorhees or something’ their autumnal day oozed dark romance.

Both the ceremony and the reception took place in Shannon’s Pond, a secluded woodland campsite owned by the couples’ friends with a large pond at the heart of it. Covered in a canopy of trees, it made for perfect first look photos for Maysa and Lee. From the start of their relationship, Maysa knew she wanted to wear a red wedding dress and built the wedding around both this and enhancing the nature around her. Her stunning strapless number from Holly’s Unique Weddings and Gowns was only $650 (and totally bespoke!), which she wore with jet black jewellery from Charming Charlie, a headpiece crafted by her cousin Shae, and rose gold Converse.

A lot of the elements of the day focused on their loved ones, from the venue to the finale entertainment. Before the day, Maysa and her bridesmaids made the bouquets and boutonnières at a DIY party held at the Flowerman, alongside all of the DIY decor, including painted glass bottles and all of the stationery made by Maysa and her grandmother. The favours were all homemade hot chocolate mixes!

Music-Focused Wedding in Spain with a Bohemian Vibe

Julia and Noel met in 2006 when Julia was living in Seville and Noel had a band based in Barcelona. The band were on tour and Julia went to see them and then they met after the show. Since it was music that brought them together, it naturally played a big part in their wedding, which they described as a being “a little Rock n Roll with a bohemian vibe.”

“Music was such a big focus for us”, began the bride. “We recorded a cover of Ed Sheeran’s Photograph at Noel’s studio which we played this during a slideshow of pictures for our family. We danced to a pre-recorded acoustic version that Noel did of All the Small Things by Blink182. All our friends sang along to it and it was pretty special. Noel also surprised our guests with a live band show with some of his friends right after our first dance during which we both crowd-surfed and I sang live with him, both of which were a first time for me!”
