Kawaii Camp-Out with an All-Night Dance Party!

Dena and Dave met at a burlesque show of a mutual friend – Dena was filling in for a performer, dressed as a depression-era hobo complete with fake moustache which she wore all night while they hung out at an after-hours bar.

When planning their big day, they had one requirement in mind – a venue that wouldn’t kick them out at 10pm! Dena found a small summer camp property on Airbnb and the listing included some photos of a wedding there. They ran with the camp theme, inspired by movies like Wet Hot American Summer, and added in elements of things they love – childhood obsessions, all things kawaii, candy, and their mutual love of cats!

Their non-traditional venue allowed them to be completely free with their decor choices, and do exactly what they wanted. They DIY’d almost everything – from camp brochure invites to custom camp t-shirts, Hello Kitty candy centrepieces to My Little Pony Bouquets! They decorated the ceremony and reception spaces from scratch, including 100 tassel for the paper lanterns.

Rustic, Beer Themed Wedding with a Temperley Wedding Dress

Charlie and Duncan were lucky enough to score a gem of a venue for their wedding – Outfields Farm in Bedfordshire. Usually used for holiday accommodation, they had their reception in the barn usually used as a bunk room, and the whole bridal party were able to take over the holiday cottages adjacent for the whole weekend. Many of their other guests camped on site too. As it wasn’t an advertised wedding venue, happening to belong to Charlie’s bridesman’s parents, they’re convinced they managed to achieve what they wanted from their big day for a third of the price of hosting it in a manor house or country club!

Being able to stay over the nights before and after the wedding meant that there was a real party atmosphere for the whole weekend, not just the day itself, which is just what Charlie and Duncan wanted when they began their planning. The couple took their inspiration from the rustic charm of the venue itself and their love of relaxed days spent in pub gardens with friends, family and dogs. They wanted it to be as personal as possible, and the input of so many friends and family ensured the day was completely tailored to their tastes and passions by those who knew the couple best.

Scandinavian Inspired Festival Wedding Weekend (Where the Bride Arrived on a JCB Digger!)

Jess and Sven’s weekend long Scandi-boho inspired festival wedding was as laidback as they are, and organised in just FOUR MONTHS! “We work abroad for most of the year, running a sailing boat in the Med,” said Jess. “So despite being engaged for well over a year, we hadn’t made any effort to even set a date.” On a whim in May 2017, they couple decided on that very September, and then planned and organised the whole thing from Mallorca!

The couple had a weekend-long wedding, officially marrying on the Friday at Worcester register office with just close family present. Their humanist ceremony on the Saturday was performed by an officiant (who happened to look like Father Christmas, NBD) and held in a field owned by the family of the bride.

As the wedding was held completely outside in England in September, of course the had the weather to contend with, although thunderstorms didn’t dampen their spirits throughout the day, even if the ceremony was very nearly completely delayed due to a massive thunderstorm. “Sven phoned to say all the guests had run inside the tipi to hide, and they were helping themselves to drinks, so they were fine, but I couldn’t get there!” After the storm passed, Jess, her bridesmaids and pageboy were transported to the venue in the most unique way – a ribbon decorated JCB digger! Planned by Jess and her Dad as a surprise for everyone else.
