Groundbreaking, Earth Shattering Joy

Do I sound a bit OTT with that statement? You won’t think so when you hear this story and see these images. I am not an overly sentimental or gushy, girly girl when it comes to such things…however this story had really touched me.  It is quite simply a joy and an honour to showcase these for you.
As you all know, I am one of MangoRED‘s biggest fans. I (think) I was one of the first bloggers to feature them and I am certainly the first blogger to feature this set (as the gorgeous and amazingly talented brothers emailed me them for first dibs – woohoo!)

Danny & Dena chose to fly the Ryan & Randall all the way from The Philippines to shoot their Baltimore nuptials.
The MangoRED boys describe the circumstances leading up to them heading off to the US of A:
After a furious initial exchange of emails, Randall and I honestly thought it has all the makings of a prank. Ohhhhkaayy… let’s see…“Danny and Dena”..the names sounded overrrly twee. Plus, Dena’s letters were unusually giddy &  goading us into action..got us into thinking…alright…keep the cute coming… we’re not listening! haha. We’d chime in chorus…April fool’s!Who would travel halfway around the world to shoot a stranger’s wedding on ungodly April 1st? However with Dena’s emailing tenacity, it gradually dawned on us that this is happening for real, they are for real! Our hearts sunk and we suddenly found ourselves in stoned ruminations…errrr…..reveling in the waaaarm musical afterglow of the moment. We cant stop conjuring up images of syrupy country-music ballads and hovering butterflies. weeeeeee! Ice-cold America..i have asthma!

Fast forward to Towson Baltimore. Wedding day. I will not even attempt to put it into words. How can one describe episodes of…(warning: hokey lines ahead)… ” rise & fall of purpose and belief? “ or …. ” renewal of hope?”…. ” sustaining of faith? “. The testament to human resilience makes up for the absence of ornament. Everything was devoid of descriptive adjectives. For a moment, one can just forget about the ordinariness of life…

The newlyweds thanked MangoRED for not only photographing their day, but for allowing them to be themselves.  Isn’t that what a rock n roll wedding is all about people?!
Thank you for letting us be real and allowing us to share our story in it’s normal state. Errors, delays, nervousness, and pride with joy. The beauty is not in the garments nor the perfect setting or a perfect written vow. It is made of mistakes and quirky non-sense that seems to follow with smile made of eternity measures. Let us be the lead for what Grooms and Brides…perfection is not necessary, attempt is absolute.

I am literally blown away…

A Rose Amongst Thorns!

I have a confession..not only did I google myself (I know right, shameful!) but it took me to page on The Knot(gaah!) Good news is that my voyage into uninspired-ville was not in vain. The link I followed took me to this ‘omg awesome’ 50’s rock n roll style wedding and introduced me to Imaginative Studios.  Hurrah!
If you too are brave enough to visit The Knot and all their unoriginal beauty then clicky here for more of this fan-bloody-tastic wedding. A true rose amongst thorns – check out all the amazing details!

Good To Be In Love

Photo Fusion

Are you guys liking all the videos I have been sharing? Feedback is always nice….I certainly am and this one sent in by Jim Green of Vital Memories is no different.  In his own words, Jim has created a fusion – combining his love of photography, cinematography and music resulting in this beautiful little film.
“On your wedding day, add some motion and more importantly, natural sound to your pictures, to truly come alive on the big screen. Fusion helps to tell the story that can be missed with just photographs by blending video clips into a creative film, all from a single camera. Adding video clips to great photos is a wonderful way to capture the entire essence of your day!”

Infinitely Better

Video video video..it is aaaaaall about the amazing videos this week and I am loving every minute. In fact I have enjoyed featuring so many gorgeous little films that I have decided to spread the proverbial Rock n Roll branch to encompass more video content that I ever thought I would. I have (literally just signed up to and) launched the Rock n Roll Bride video channel on Vimeo, a place where you can go and see all the videos I have loved and posted here on the site. I will also be endeavoring to make the video section of the blog a lot more prominent, so if you’re coming here looking for video inspiration you’ll be able to locate it all very easily (this is a working progress and relies on my very busy Husband to do some coding for me so may take a little while!) but for now head over to the Rock n Roll Bride channel if you want to browse some of my favourite videos, or if not, stay right here and watch this new cute cute video, sent in today by Tim Sarquis of Infinite Design.

I had to choose this one for his first feature mainly because of the gorgeous song. It (almost) brings a tear to my eye (I don’t cry over soppy stuff so don’t be offended that I didn’t actually shed a tear – I seriously love this video!)

You’ll love this I’m sure…

Video Star – Mindy & Brian

Laura Randall of Edit 1 Media sent me some wonderful videos to share with you all, and I’m defiantly going to start with this one. The music video style is super cool and the couple, although seemingly rather traditional, definitely thought outside the box when it came to their ‘same day edit’. I love the swooping camera moves and the couple’s fun attitude. They didn’t go for a sappy sappy video style and the result is fantastic (we all know I love weddings more than most but overly lovely dovey videos really make me want to hurl!)

Seeing all these fabulous videos recently is really making me wish we’d gone for a rock n roll wedding day video!

Video Star – Paint The Dress

I am loving posting all the videos this week. It seems the word is spreading about little old me and my little old blog and I am being inundated with fabulous video content as well as amazing images..woohooo! Can’t complain about that can we?

This is totally original take on the whole ‘trash the dress’ thing.  Don’t get me wrong I love TTD…in fact I love all dress pictures really, but Darrell Aubert of Aubert Films has taken the idea to a whole new level by telling a ‘trash the dress’ story with film.

Darrell goes on to explain:
Karen [the Bride] is a local part time photographer who was really interested in the TTD phenomenon. She reached out to me to shoot an awesome video for her and her family. I gladly accepted but with one condition, that I could tell a story with her video. One thing I always disliked about TTD was the lack of focus. It was more shock and awe than anything else. I wanted to tell the story of the bride’s situation, why is she doing this?
Karen’s story was one that, I’m sure, many mothers have. 3 kids, all the chores to do, a husband more interested in the football game than her. Her life lacked the spark that she had when she got married all those years ago. Finding her wedding dress and utterly destroying it is her way of expressing her frustrations and also a way of regaining some of that spark.

To read about Karen’s take on the experience, head on over to Darrell’s blog, but for now, check this out!

Video Star – Star Wars!

I want to share another Jason Magbanua video with you, and I know you’ll be pleased because everyone have been raving about the first video I posted!  Remember the amazing Star Wars wedding, captured by Pat Dy? (I loved it even though some people didn’t!) well Jason was in fact the videographer for this wedding too!

I am loving this. The music is fantastic and the Bride even says ‘come on, let’s rock and roll!’ If this doesn’t make you smile then I seriously don’t know what will!

Ashley this is just for you, you big geek!

Video Star – Cynclaire & Raffy

Something a bit different for you today…Jason Magbanua emailed me asking if I wanted to post some of his videos…’hell to the yes!’ I replied! I have actually been wanting to do more wedding videos on the site for a while (remember this?) so I am super excited to have some of his fabulous ones to share today.  I have to start with this one, for one main reason – hot pink wedding dress!  The guests were all asked to wear white so the bride still stood out though! Isn’t the result so pretty?

Video Star – Nicole & Joe

I am so flattered at the great response I’ve gotten from you all after I posted my scary video – you have all been lovely!

However Nicole went one step further still and sent me the link to her own wedding video for me to have a look at.  It reminds me of a short promo video or a music video, its subtle yet effective and doesn’t drag on which is one thing I dread when watching wedding videos!
I really do adore this video, it has such a lovely soft feel, almost like a vintage super-8 film which is mirrored in the beautiful yet subtle vintage tones of the actual wedding.

Nicole said that they actually very nearly didn’t get a wedding video, but this actually ended up being one of their most favourite parts of their wedding!  If there had been someone that I knew of here in the UK that shot gorgeous wedding videos like this we may have chanced our minds about that too!

Thanks so much for sharing Nicole & Joe, for more details and photographs from their wedding clicky here
I’m now really look forward to seeing many more of your wedding videos!

Be Afraid..Be Very Afraid…

Because you’re about to see me on video! Arrrgh….

As you can see, I’m already trying to take on board everything you guys have been saying in your survey responses.  Surprisingly (to me!) a huge number of you want to know more about little ol’ me..so here we go…my very first tentative steps towards becoming a video blogger!

Arrgh…Just in case you can’t tell (although I’m sure you all can!) I was super nervous doing this, I love having my photograph taken, but being filmed is scary!! No photoshop!  I just wanted to let you know a little more about me and open the floodgates for my new, and hopefully exciting little venture.  Behold…

A Bride takes a deep breath and walks with trepidation down a long church aisle.  The classical music swells, a shot of the gathered congregation smiling and her proud father shedding a tear.

The classic wedding video – bringing such joy to the married couple and usually such boredom to the family and friends forced to watch it over and over.

When Gareth and I got married we choose not to have a wedding video for precisely this reason.  Quite apart form the fact that employing a half decent videographer can cost as much, if not more, than the photographer, do you really want to end up with something your never going to watch again?  Or worse still are going to keep watching over and over!?

However I’m open to convincing.  I want to see your wedding videos…wedding videos that won’t make me barf and wedding videos that show the real you.  One of the first, and only videos I’ve seen and actually enjoyed enough to watch the whole way through, is that of The Unbride, Justine Ungaro and her Husband Gary who alongside their videographers Monachetti, shot a fantastically original, rock video stylee video that I was more an happy to sit through.

Come on then, let me have it!
