A Country Barn Glam Styled Shoot

“Always in search of new ideas and cool, unique locations with a story, I was thrilled to explore one of the very last working farms in Chelsea, Quebec, Canada for my inspiration shoot,” writes photographer Anne-Marie Bouchard. “I wanted character and grit for a session that would showcase something a bit different with an edge to inspire the modern Rock n Roll Bride. The work horses were a perfect fit to the true natural, rustic feel and a tattooed bride in a soft flowing Vera Wang gown with wild dark flowers just felt so right, opposites do attract after all!”

I adore this shoot. The simple, clean lines of the cake, mixed with the texture of the dress and the gritty setting are just perfect – both edgy and elegant. The flowers on the cake are all handmade sugar flower hydrangeas and anemones and the black bow on the cake was inspired by Vera Wang‘s 2011 Spring line, from which the dress was taken. It all ties together beautifully.

Sarah & Justin’s Modern Vintage, New York Wedding

I put a little teaser shot from Sarah & Justin’s beautiful wedding on my facebook fan page a few weeks ago, and within about 3 minutes it had received about 40 ‘likes’ which pretty much convinced me (like I didn’t know already) that you guys are going to totally heart this one.

The elegant New York wedding took place at Bridgewaters Restaurant, New York. The theme for the wedding was an evolving one, and one that really reflected what the bride & groom loved in their daily lives, as well as being complementary to the scenery around them.

“I started out wanting a vintage New York feel but then it began to get more modern,” Sarah explained. “We played off the nautical feeling of the venue (it had row boats hanging from the ceiling) and also the location which was in New York’s South Street Seaport area and had these amazing ships docked nearby. That is why my table number cards had a shell motif in them and our invitations were a drawing of the vantage point from our wedding venue.”

“Overall I wanted everything to be simple, clean yet classy. My dress was light and airy, the flowers were simple white hydrangeas, we had white lanterns and tons of candles. I wanted it to be about the people that were there and about Justin and I, not about what my favors were or what types of flowers we had. I wanted to simplify the whole wedding planning process that has turned so many brides into bridezillas.”

I have a lot of love for these images. The mish-mash of Vera Wang, flower covered modern invitations, blood red florals, croque en bouche (cake!) and the music makes me a rather happy girlie

Mucho gracias to photographer Lisa for sending this little bit of joy to my inbox today.

Modern Shanghai Styling

I have a crazy busy day today but I just had to drop by to share this ridiculously amazing wedding venue and decor. The modern Shanghai theme was together by Lotus. I wouldn’t even want to speculate how much this bash cost but the result is pretty damn spectacular – the huge cake, the millions of lanterns, the field of flowers… The Bride Ita looked uber glamorous in the Vera Wang and actually got up at 2am to start getting ready…are you kidding me?! The poor photographers! I’m sure they forgave her when they saw the results though, what an amazing wedding to shoot.
Catch you later my pretties.
