For some reason, I have been sent a lot of amazing stuff from South African photographers and couples recently… I don’t know why but it’s nice to know the South Africans are feeling the Rock n Roll love now too!

Newlywed’s Bianca & Sean got married in Cape Town (where they have now lived for 10 years) at a gorgeous restaurant called Pure at Hout Bay Manor. The wedding was based on a vintage/retrospective theme. The Bridesmaids all chose their own sleek black dresses and the boys wore skinny ties and sharp black suits. Bianca looked every bit the vintage princess in a custom made silver satin and lace wedding gown made by local couturier Cindy Bam and a vintage 1920s hat and veil.

Their Punk Rock Wedding

This is going to sound more than a little bit weird but I almost don’t want to blog these because once I do it will be done and I will be sad that the anticipation, excitement and exhilaration (I’m a very dramatic person) I have been feeling leading up to posting these will be gone. Yes I am very strange…

You might recognise Automne & Graham as one of the finalists in the Tinywater contest I ran a few months ago. As soon as I saw their entry I knew they were a completely awesome punk rock couple and that their wedding would be fab but OH. My. GOD nothing prepared me for this! I am so honoured and excited that the couple have chosen Rock n Roll Bride to be the lucky blog who gets to share their wedding and all the amazing details. Exclusives rock! I seriously want to cover this post with kisses, love and hearts ♥ ♥ ♥

DIY Ideas From Off White Weddings

I have to say sorry I haven’t been as bloggy the past few days. I have been super busy, super tired and trying to sort out some super new plans for brand Rock n Roll Bride.

Firstly I wanted to say that Rock n Roll Bride has been nominated for a Blog Award! I’m pretty excited as it’s the first one I’ve ever been considered for. I don’t know who nominated me but if it was you thanks so much! I would super duper appreciate it if you took 2 seconds to click this link and vote for me!

Secondly behold another new series – oh yes. The very gorgeous Hillary from Off White Wedding contacted me a few weeks ago to see if I would be interested in sharing some of her DIY ideas with you all. After seeing her faaabulous snap station and trifle buffet on The Bride’s Cafe there was no way I was going to refuse! Hillary has put together a little tutorial to show you how you can make your very own birdcage veil. I hope you enjoy it!

♥ 25×15 in piece of tulle in whatever color you wish. Be subtle or be bold! (I got my Tulle at Joanne’s but any well stocked fabric store should have it)
♥ Hair comb, plastic or metal (I found mine at Target)
♥ Embellishment flowers of your choice in coordinating color (mine from Joann’s)
♥ Needle and matching thread to tulle (contrasting color shown in how-to so you can see it!)

clara bouquet

♥ Cut an 15×25 piece of tulle. It’s pretty much one size fits all, I tried it on five different women and it fit everyone.

clara lean

♥ Accordion fold  the tulle across one of the 15 inch sides (fold like you would if making a paper fan)

veil-accordion fold

♥ Fold the accordion folded edge over ¼ -1/2 inch and secure with a few stitches of thread.  Repeat with other 15 inch side.

veil fold

♥ Make a running stitch every inch or so (just in and out of the tulle) on the top edge of the tulle on the 25 inch side.

veil running stitch

♥ Pull the thread so the tulle gathers all together snugly at the top and stitch together so it’s a small little bunch of tulle. You have essentially gathered the top edge of the tulle and both of the side edges, leaving the bottom edge alone

veil edges sewn together

♥ Sew the bunched up tulle onto the middle of the comb, sewing in and out of the teeth of the comb.

♥ Attach embellishment flowers by sewing them onto the tulle.

Thanks to much to Hillary for all her hard work on this!

Thursday Treats – 10th Sept 2009

Credit: Photographer Unknown Via Love Your Chaos

I spend a lot of time online (like seriously hours a day) and so of course I come across many a fabulous wedding and non-wedding thing that I don’t want to dedicate a full spot to. So, inspired by one of my favourite bloggers, I have decided on a new little feature. Every Thursday I will introduce you to a few extra treats out there on the world wide web. I hope you enjoy it. Let’s begin…

♥  Problogger spoke about a topic very dear to my heart – the importance of outbound links when blogging.
♥  The Unbride, Justine Ungaro, has relaunched her fabulous blog. It’s had a makeover and is more awesome than ever. Plus to celebrate she is running a veil giveaway from Castle Bride Couture.
Vivienne Westwood has released some brand new colours of the super popular Lady Dragon shoe. I need those red/fuchsia ones in my life asap!
♥  The delightfully dark La Carmina gave us a sneak peak of her newest book – Cute Yummy Time. I can not wait to get my hands on it!
♥ This is kind of last week’s news – but as this is a new feature and I had to squeeze it in. My friend Marina and her band Miss Fitz got through to bootcamp on the X-Factor. Check them out. I’m biased yes but they totally rock!
Design*Sponge posted some super gorgeous downloadable wallpapers on their site. I am currently rocking the  Deanne Cheuk (Light) design.
I Love Lolliblog posted a candy, tully, frothy, gorgeous inspiration board – It’s My Party.
♥ And these lovely people gave Rock n Roll Bride a shout out this week…

Celebration of Love

I apologise for my slight absence yesterday, I had a super busy day planning new ventures (eeek exciting!). I hope all my American readers had a fabulous Labor Day weekend but it has been rather lonely in Blog-land this past few days and I am glad you are all back! Let’s get this show on the road shall we – as always, way too much gorgeousness to share today!

The Tiny Bride

I adore photographer Sarah Pukin’s way of wording these images. Enjoy this and enjoy these gorgeous images!

The Tiny Bride.

Once upon a time there was a girl who met a boy. The boy was in a band – when he saw the girl his heart grew and he knew she was the one.

The girl gazed up at him and thought “could this be love at first sight?” As the boy came closer the girl reached her hand out – as he grabbed it they both knew that they were soul mates.

They fell deeply in love.

As time passed the boy and the girl got married and here are a few pages of their story.

Thanks Sarah. You rock!
