Green and Leafy Yet Urban Wedding

Green Dress Wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf - Matt Parry Photography (45)

Libby and Matt were married at The Chainstore at Trinity Buoy Wharf. The inspiration for the wedding was the bride’s emerald engagement ring, which was originally Matt’s grandmothers. The also bride wore a bespoke green silk dress by Wendy Benstead.

“We had already been considering green for our main colour, but then we finally moved house and got our first garden, and decided to expand on that and make gardens the theme” the bride said. “We ended up with a gift list at a garden centre, hired trees to decorate the venue, and wild, ivy-type flowers for the bouquets and tables, as well as a garden arch covered in flowers which we got married under.”

“The most unqiue parts of our wedding were probably more the things we didn’t do” she continued. “We didn’t do favours, we didn’t have a first dance, we didn’t have a traditional wedding cake, I haven’t taken Matt’s name, I don’t wear a wedding ring (just my engagement ring) and obviously I didn’t wear white! We decided not to do anything just because it was traditional, although we weren’t against carrying on the traditions which we liked. For instance, throwing confetti seemed to really fit with the theme of the wedding, and I bought some beautiful green and white petals from The Real Flower Confetti Company.”

Art Deco Glam Meets Downtown Loft Wedding

Sarah and Justin were married in Yaletown, Vancouver, in October. Their wedding theme was eclectic with a bohemian, art deco glam feel. “We wanted our guests to be relaxed as well as showcase our personalities” explained Sarah, “so we had a relaxed reception with food stations and canapés rather than a sit down meal.”

The couple had a candlelit, romantic, dreamy ceremony with unique rather than traditional vows. “My favourite part of the wedding was the ceremony” said Sarah, “especially the moment when I walked into the room and down the aisle – I was just blown away with how amazing the room looked and even smelt.”

Relaxed and Simple Art Gallery Wedding with the Bride in a Suit

http://www.amyfaithphotography.com

Hannah and Paddy’s Manchester Art Gallery wedding had a laid back, super cool vibe, one that perfectly reflected them and their relationship. The bride in particular, wanted to feel like herself on the day so she opted to wear a sharp white suit from The Kooples rather than a dress and she didn’t carry a bouquet.

“Our wedding was lush, relaxed, simple”, she said. “We had a lot of monochrome, but also a lot of greenery, which really complemented the gorgeous art work in the gallery. We wanted a pared-back and clean atmosphere, but that kept away from the clinical side of minimalist.”

“We scattered eucalyptus on the tables and used as part of the name cards, so the room smelled amazing. All our tables were named after our favourite Manchester pubs and bars, so the Top Table was ‘Temple’, which is an amazing underground bar on Oxford Rd, and Paddy’s favourite place in the world. We hired in some extra lighting, so the stone walls of the gallery had a really warm orange glow as the night came in.”

This is England ’86 Inspired Wedding Shoot

This is England Inspired Wedding Shoot (41)

If you loved This is England as much as I did, then you’re definitely going to adore this wedding shoot inspired by the ’86 series. Gotta love something with a bit of GRIT! The show is all about subcultures in the 1980s, as well as friendship and love, so it’s the perfect starting off point for a wedding themed shoot.

“These photos show that you can have the wedding of your dreams, something that truly reflects your personality without being thrown into debt for years to come!”, said Lauren, who worked on the shoot. “So as well as being cool and pretty, I wanted this shoot to be honest, real and raw. This is why it features real mods, original skinheads and goths. They are all real life friends and real couples! They all understand what the alternative way of life is about.”

Hipster & Urban Wedding in Berlin

Rishad and Andreas were married in Berlin. The Bangladeshi bride and her German groom had a laid back wedding that really felt like them. “Although there was a lot of planning, we did not have a theme”, explained the bride, Rishad. ” Things just fell into place in the organic semi-chaos that is our life. Some of our guests described it as ‘hipster’ but we’d say it just felt like us. It was small and homely, a celebration of all the different relationships that have individually shaped us.”

“We didn’t particularly think our wedding was ‘alternative’ but there were some crucial elements that  made that day slightly different from the textbook wedding. I wore white but it was not a traditional wedding dress. I did not have a flower bouquet but rather, had some in my hair! We had no flower girls, no best men and bridesmaids – just one friend from each side, who would together conduct the ceremony. There were no grand plans for the reception either. We just wanted to give people time to mingle, touch base and DANCE!”

London Rooftop Garden Party

London rooftop garden party (13)

Kia and Daniel’s July wedding took place at Dalston Roof Park in London, a quirky and cool events space in Hackney, overlooking the city’s skyscrapers. The day didn’t really have a theme other than having fun!

“Since we had both been married previously with all the traditional trappings, we went for something unique which reflected our personalities and interests”, explained the bride. “We wanted to be surrounded by the people we love, enjoying themselves with great food, a stunning view and dancing the night away.”

“We took a little bit of inspiration from some fantastic parties we had been to. We aimed to throw the best party and not think of it as just ‘our day’. Our friends and family are so important to us that they were the main focus for our day. We wanted to have all our friends mingling and break up the traditional ‘mine’ and ‘yours’ feeling that you get with a lot of weddings. This relaxed approach meant that we had friends old and new talking, eating and dancing together. The photo booth and free-flowing cocktails seemed to help that along nicely too!”
